Gotta Invest in Lots of Firearms!
Lauren Boebert has said she is heartbroken over her teenage son's arrest but that he will take responsibility for his actions and should be held accountable.
The Colorado representative's son is accused of taking part in a series of car break-ins and credit card thefts in his mother's home state.
Tyler Boebert, 18, appeared in court virtually from jail on Wednesday but was later released to return in April.
He is facing multiple felony charges.
The list of 22 charges include four felony charges of criminal possession of ID documents, one count of conspiracy to commit a felony, and over a dozen misdemeanour charges, the Rifle Police Department said in a Facebook post.
In a statement provided to The Denver Post by Ms Boebert's campaign for re-election, she said her son should be held accountable for "poor decisions" just like anyone else.
"I love my son Tyler, who has been through some very difficult, public challenges for a young man and the subject of attention that he didn't ask for," she said.
"It breaks my heart to see my child struggling and, in this situation, especially when he has been provided multiple opportunities to get his life on track."
Tyler Boebert was first identified as a suspect when he was spotted in a surveillance video while officers were investigating a string of car break-ins, police said in court documents.
He is accused of using stolen credit cards to make purchases in petrol stations and online.
Lauren Boebert's son Tyler arrested, leaving congresswoman 'heartbroken'
The congresswoman's son, 18, has been charged with multiple felonies over his alleged role in car break-ins.
You know how they were able to identify Tyler? You just need to read the Business Insider headline.
Police ID'd Lauren Boebert's son from surveillance footage because he wore a hoodie bearing the name of his mom's shuttered gun-themed eatery
What!!?! What kind of hurr-durr goes on a crime spree and wears clothes representing his own family's business? If the business is closed and there is no need to promote it anymore, but you still are, there could be because of a personal tie to it (not always, but it certainly applies here). And... if the business has a nationwide reputation, and so does your family, and you still decide to commit this mayhem, then...
Let's see more of what Business Insider has to say about Tyler (who is, incidentally, the second stupid man named Tyler I have written about today):
Investigators identified Colorado GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert's teenage son as a suspect in a Colorado crime spree, in part because he was caught on surveillance footage wearing a hoodie with the name of his mom's shuttered gun-themed eatery, newly released court documents say.
"Based off my previous encounters, I was able to identify the male with the gray hoodie to be Tyler Boebert," a Rifle police officer wrote in the arrest affidavit. "Tylers mother, Lauren Boebert, use to be the owner of the Shooters Grill restaurant here in Rifle, Colorado, hence why the gray hoodie would read out 'Shooters Grill' on the back. Tyler was also wearing long, black, Under Armor pants."

Colorado's Rifle Police Department arrested Tyler Boebert, 18, on Tuesday in connection to a spate of property thefts and car break-ins.
Here's a photo from inside the restaurant from back in the day. You know, because I want this to be an informative article that appreciates historical context. Obviously.
They're quite the shooters, aren't they?
It is also alleged that Tyler made a sex tape with a fellow suspect in the break-ins, thefts, and robberies... and that the accomplice is apparently underage.
The officer also interviewed a person connected to the break-ins who alleged that Tyler Boebert made a sex tape with an accomplice and distributed it to another person in their age group, per the affidavit.
Lauren Boebert's son Tyler accused of making sex tape with alleged accomplice, per affidavit
Gas station surveillance footage shows Tyler Boebert wearing a "Shooters Grill" sweatshirt at the same time a stolen card was used there, per an affidavit.
And don't forget that this Tyler kid is the same one who, at age 17, made Lauren a 36-year-old grandmother in 2023. Lauren, herself, was a teenager when she gave birth to Tyler, the first of four sons.
If the crime spree didn't upset enough people, one of the victims was "a woman with a brain tumor who said that she only had $75 'left to her name.'" So, she will have a harder time paying for the respective treatment, if she can at all, which is horrible and a potentially fatal situation. So, yeah, these teenage morons may have just indirectly killed someone, or come at least perilously close to such. That's very sad to think about.
But anyways, even if he is smiling and having a jolly time in court, Tyler is in a heap of trouble. Frickin' 22 charges. This family has so much drama, including the divorce stuff, and they seem basically incapable of governing themselves. Yet their matriarch represents roughly 750,000 Coloradans in Congress; and only reaches to Democrats across the isle while in a crowded theatre she gets kicked out of.
I thought Sarah Palin and her family drama and national attention hoarding was bad. This, though... bloody hell, man.
I love the Gadsden flag behind her. The other one kinda sucks, though.
