FEASTERVILEE-TREVOSE, Pennsylvania — Donald Trump is really cooking in the race for president.

Wearing an apron and a red tie, the former president served up some fries and political shade against his rival during a behind-the-counter stint at McDonald’s Sunday, which drew a monster crowd to the Feasterville-Trevose, Pa. fast food restaurant.

McDonald’s has long been one of Trump’s favorite chains, but his visit to the Golden Arches Sunday doubled as an effort to re-up his doubts over Vice President Kamala Harris’ claims that she worked there in the 1980s.

“I’ll tell you what. It’s a great franchise. It’s a great company…look at the crowd over there. Look at how happy everyone is. They’re happy because they want hope,” the commander-in-beef told reporters from the drive-through window.

“I’ve now worked for 15 minutes more than Kamala.”

In what his campaign dubbed the “October surp-fries,” McDonald Trump worked the counter and bantered with customers who drove up. His campaign also released footage of him jubilantly preparing the Happy Meals.

It was clear they were lovin’ it.

“We got the salt on it. Never touches the human hand. Nice and full,” Trump said while filling a container of fries — a nod to his germophobic tendencies.

Well over a thousand MAGA-Donald’s faithful lined Street Road in Lower Southampton Township in an effort to meet Trump and say “hail to the chef” at the McDonald’s in critical Bucks County, outside Philadelphia.

I know that on my list of earnings that you can get on the Social Security website, they have listed a year that I made the incredible sum of $14.00. I may not remember the job but SS and the IRS certainly does. I'm not saying she needs to show her IRS records but there should be some way to back up what she's saying, that is if she cares or isn't lying about it.

No fucking shit! You think at this point after 3 assassination attempts, he'd just waltz into a random McDonalds and get hired?? This was always billed as a staged photo opp. Everyone that worked there and that got food was heavily vetted by the USSS. Presidents and people running for President don't just "randomly go anywhere".

The media has reported it was going to be a closed location well in advance, so no surprise there it was actually closed. The sign that was posted on the door at the location confirms it, yet some try to make it out as an elaborate conspiracy.
Some people say what's the big deal? If you're not honest about something that minor, how can you be trusted with anything else? The IRS or SSA has tax records. My friend John who is 93 has pointed out that they have his records all the way back to when he started working in the 40s. I don't think her tax records should be released for all to see, but she should allow someone, a neutral 3rd party to confirm or deny the claim she worked at McDonald's.

Everyone says their ice cream machines are broken. Someone explained that worked there, that they say it's broken cause the cleaning cycle the machine does takes a long time and does it frequently. So if the customer thinks it doesn't work, they won't have to wait out the long ass cycle. The YouTube video I read that comment was one of those epic rap video battles, the burger King vs Ronald McDonald.
 
I was told last night that Trump was going to be showing up in Zebulon, GA, *today His entourage is going to have more people in it than that town. There is nothing there that is interesting, as far as I know, I drove thru there just yesterday, it's like 15 miles from my town, they have 2 traffic lights, one on the northbound side and one on the southbound side.

A few people are saying they are going to be there, not me, tho, I don't like driving in the regular insane stupidity that's called traffic, never mind that clusterf**k.

****I got the wrong info, it's going to be tomorrow, Wednesday October 23 at 3:00. A town hall meeting at the local Christ Chapel church, this church is huge, they have 3 different times for Sunday worship, one of them in Spanish. It's on highway 19, which used to be the main road to go from Tennessee to Florida, before they built the Interstate. Right across from the high school, no classes tomorrow.

Trump's self-promotion has been unorthodox recently. I was not expecting to read today that he had worked through the McDonald's drive-thru.

But sure enough, this dude always seems to have surprises up his sleeve. I can understand someone perhaps trying to performative do a dirty or gritty job in order to appeal to potential voters, but doing so at McDonald's of all places is pretty humble, even for those standards. It is an effective way to relate to the everyman; while simultaneously taking a jab at his, at present, most principal political opponent. He is also doing this in an especially purple county in Pennsylvania, perhaps the most crucial swing state in this election.

So, did Kamala work at McDonald's at one point? Maybe, maybe not. But now, there is objectively more evidence of Trump doing so than Kamala. And if you think about it, there aren't too many comebacks his foes and critics have to this.

While it is an unconventional and unique tactic for campaigning/public diplomacy, it is not without precedent. It reminds me of the time when Ronald Reagan went to Fort Wayne, Indiana after its flooding in 1982. (I haven't blatantly said it, but I have strongly alluded previously: Fort Wayne is my hometown.) I'm particularly reminded of how Reagan personally handled and passed along sandbags, which you can see him doing near the end of the below video.



I also remember that Trump, as president, stopped in Fort Wayne on November 5, 2018, which happened to be the day before the midterm elections. He gave Mike Braun (R) an endorsement for US Senator for Indiana, and he won handily over Joe Donnelly (D). Braun is presently running for Indiana governor.
 
@Symmachus - What caused the flooding in Fort Wayne? I remember hearing about it in 1982, but life was crazy for me back then, moving between South Africa and Portland because my older sister spiral broke her leg and my Mom was NOT going to let those African doctors ruin her daughter's leg. It wasn't a skin color thing, she thought all if them would be subpar to our 'normal' orthopedist. Because when you have four stair step kids, bones get broken. Our orthopedist was the orthopedist for the Portland Trailblazers at the time. I had to help my sister do EVERYTHING, FOR MONTHS, but I'm over it now... Or maybe never! :bigtears:

Good question. I never really quite knew WHY it happened, but according to the article I'm going to link, it would have been thunderstorms combined with an ineffective levee and dike system. The system was described as "not up to 1982 standards", and all three of the rivers that Fort Wayne is based around - St. Mary, St. Joseph, and Maumee - were quite swelled, eventually either flooding over or breaking the anti-flooding infrastructure throughout the city.

Oh, Bill pretty much blamed Dr. Cook entirely for his ankle injuries that eventually ended his career. Because Dr. Cook could do more than tell him he shouldn't play? Despite Bill's talent, and our one and only Championship, Bill IS NOT my favorite Blazer! That'd be Drazen Petrovic, because he could have been my brother's twin before he died in a car accident in Germany in June of 1993. But he played for the Nets by then. I also love Terry Porter and Clyde Drexler, and a whole host of other players. BB is all we had out here until the Timbers went MLS in 2011! :shame:
