A North Texas mother accused of medically abusing her 3-year-old son was arrested last week, the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Wednesday.

Kaitlyn Rose Laura, 31, faces charges of serious bodily injury to a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Sheriff’s Office and court records.

Laura is accused of lying about the toddler’s medical history in order to get unnecessary treatments, including a feeding tube, at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth and Children’s Medical Center Dallas, according to an arrest warrant affidavit prepared by Sheriff’s Office Detective Michael Weber.

Laura was released on bond with conditions including no contact with the victim or other children under 17, according to court documents. Texas Child Protective Services removed her son from her care, the affidavit states.

I don't care if she is mentally ill she needs to get more than a slap on the wrist.
