Got to love when old woke white people get to tell Native Americans what should offend them...

High-profile tribal activists backed a Long Island school in its fight to keep its team name despite a state ban on Native American logos – joining a President Trump rallying cry.

Frank Black Cloud, a member of the Spirit Lake Nation in North Dakota, said Tuesday that rebranding the Massapequa Chiefs would be a “terrible thing to do.”

“Historically, we are Chiefs, we are Warriors,” said Black Cloud, 60, referencing neighboring Wantagh’s Warriors team — which may also have to drop its name.

He pointed to a pair of 2004 and 2016 polls that found nine in 10 Native Americans do not take offense to terms like “Redskins.”

“All of these names, images, they are something we all uphold and we’re proud of,” Black Cloud said

The statement comes one day after Trump pledged to “fight” for Massapequa to keep the name even though the town lost a court battle over the change.

it's always progressive white woke liberals that surch the world for anything to be offended by
The world has certainly became a better place since we dumped Uncle Ben and Aunt Jemima and Stanford university has dumped the Indians and become The Cardinal, although no one knows for sure, if they're a color or bird.

I haven't bought one single thing from what used to be Land O Lakes, Uncle Ben, and Aunt Jemima since they went woke. I know a lot of people and I don't know ONE singe POC that supports that BS.

Feds launch discrimination probe against NY officials — after Trump backs Massapequa Chiefs name

WASHINGTON — The federal Department of Education launched a “race-based discrimination” probe Friday into New York state officials after President Trump rallied to the defense of a Long Island school district’s “Massapequa Chiefs” nickname, The Post has learned.

The investigation will review whether the Board of Regents of the New York Department of Education is violating Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which bars discrimination based on race and national origin by recipients of federal funds, with its ban on schools using Native American names and imagery.

“The US Department of Education will not stand by as the state of New York attempts to rewrite history and deny the town of Massapequa the right to celebrate its heritage in its schools,” said Education Secretary Linda McMahon.

“While New York chooses to prioritize erasing Native Americans, their rich history, and their deep connection the state, it is requiring schools to divert time and resources away from what really matters: educating our students,” McMahon said.

Trump’s education secretary threatens federal civil rights lawsuit over Long Island high school being forced to ditch Chiefs mascot

President Trump’s Secretary of Education Linda McMahon is threatening to bring a civil rights case against the Empire State for forcing a Long Island high school to ditch its Native American mascot.

The former WWE promoter called the New York Board of Regents’ 2023 decision to ban Massapequa High School’s beloved “Chiefs” nickname a “violation” of Title VI of the federal Civil Rights Act during a visit to the school Friday.

If the state doesn’t reverse course and allow the Chiefs and their feathered headdress logo to remain, McMahon said she would refer the issue to the Justice Department to pursue.

New York won’t rescind Native American mascot ban and instead suggests broadening it — despite Trump’s threat

New York education officials won’t rescind the state’s ban on Native American mascots and team names, despite threats from the Trump administration that it risks losing federal funding.

Instead, New York officials suggested in a letter to the US Department of Education on Thursday that they could broaden the state ban to include names and mascots derived from other racial or ethnic groups that the department deems offensive.

The federal agency last week determined New York violated Title VI of the federal civil rights law by issuing a statewide ban on the use of Native American mascots and logos.

The department’s civil rights office found the state ban is discriminatory because names and mascots that are still permitted are also derived from other racial or ethnic groups, such as the “Dutchmen” and the “Huguenots.”

Good grief!!!

If the Native Americans, Dutchmen and Huguenots don't care, why do you care so MUCH!!! more than the people who are named for care about it. You are protecting people who don't feel they need to be protected.
