Trevian Demalle Carruth, 26, is facing a second-degree murder charge after a 4-month-old baby was found dead in Craig County, according to officials.

Virginia State Police said sheriff's deputies in Craig County responded with medical services for the report of an unresponsive baby on Sage Brush Lane in New Castle.

But when EMS made it to the scene, they found a four-month-old baby dead. The child's remains were sent to the Western District's Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an examination. Then the office determined that the cause of death was a homicide, VSP said, and law enforcement started investigating the homicide on June 5.
 
A second arrest has been made in the case of an infant found dead in Craig County.
June 18, 2024, Virginia State Police arrested Natassia Huddleston, 41 or Roanoke, after consulting with the Craig County Commonwealth’s Attorney, Huddleston was charged with second-degree felony homicide, child endangerment and child abuse and neglect.
