Toddler Found Alone, Drugged & Dehydrated In Home Drug Den

An Alabama couple was arrested after police say a toddler was found alone, drugged and dehydrated in a home drug den.

According to Daphne police, on Saturday, July 15 at about 8 p.m., Daphne Patrol Officers responded to the Atrium Apartments after a resident found an unattended and naked 2-year-old toddler lying near his front door.

Medical responders were summoned and the parents, Hannah Straszheim and Tyler Still, were located shortly after.

The toddler presented signs of heat exposure and dehydration and was transported to the emergency room where she tested positive for cocaine, police said.

Inside the couple's residence, police said they found the apartment in severe disarray and located more than 100 oxycodone pills, some powder cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and three semi-automatic handguns, all within access to the toddler's reach.

Straszheim and Still were both arrested for two counts of possession of a controlled substance, chemical endangerment of a child, both of which are felonies, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.

It's hard to take pity. Everyone knows which drugs will hook you in and turn you into a junkie and people do them anyway. It's a choice. They chose getting high and almost let their daughter die.

I hope that little girl isnt feeling afraid wherever they have her tonight. As long as she isn't with her trash hole junkie parents.

“They found the place in a pretty severe condition of disarray,” Ardis said. “During the search, they also located over one hundred oxycontin pills, a small quantity of powder cocaine, some of which was actually in the child’s bedroom in plain sight and also three semi-automatic handguns and all of this was in reach of the child if she had wanted to grab it.”

Police in Daphne are working with the Department of Human Resources and the child’s extended family to create a custody plan for the child.
