2-year-old Armani Turnipseed death stems from an incident where he gained access to Nigel Cheatham’s unsecured firearm from a drawer and shot himself, SPD Public Information Officer Brandon Lovelady told The Dispatch Monday.

Cheatham, 24, was arrested Monday morning and charged with felony child deprivation of necessities with substantial harm.

Hunt said the death appears to be accidental, but he has ordered an autopsy.
