The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show has been officially canceled this year as the company works to save its reputation after plummeting ratings and years of backlash over its lack of diversity.

The lingerie giant's parent company, L Brands, confirmed the end of the holiday runway extravaganza in an earnings call on Thursday, four months after model Shanina Shaik leaked the news.

The decision was part of a move to 'evolve the messaging of [the company],' Fortune reported, and it seems like the lavish event is already on its way to becoming a relic of the past.

'We will be communicating to customers, but nothing similar in magnitude to the fashion show,' CFO Stuart Burgdoerfer said during the call with analysts.

Although Burgdoerfer praised the show for being a 'remarkable marketing achievement,' he noted that the runway event didn't really impact short-term sales.

The company is moving away from extravagant marketing methods as sales at Victoria's Secret continue to decline.

Sales have dropped seven per cent in the latest quarter compared to a two per cent fall during the same period last year, according to Fortune.

Aside from a small rise in the first quarter in 2018, the lingerie retailer has had falling sales every quarter since the fourth quarter in 2016.

Now they can go eat a sandwich.

There are so many scantily clad women online every day of every shape and type, skanky or nice, just throwing their images out for the world to see. Who needs to look at Victoria's secret. Even if they have "diversity", all those VS models have the same skinny body shape with no tits.. They touted a transgender model who had a definite masculine body. Why bother?
What Victoria Secret really lacks is VARIETY.

Victoria’s Secret ditches prioritizing wokeness over ‘sexiness’ after sales drop

Lingerie chain Victoria’s Secret is reportedly ditching its woke, feminist makeover of recent years as it hasn’t translated to business success.

Since the brand decided to move away from its “hyper-sexualized” image – as BusinessOfFashion.com described it in a recent article – Victoria’s Secret has seen a significant revenue drop.

As such, it has looked to revamp itself and bring back “sexiness,” the outlet noted in a piece that was also published by editorial partner CNN on Tuesday.

Cathaleen Chen reported that the brand’s efforts to promote inclusivity – which included making LGBTQ pro women’s soccer player and outspoken leftist Megan Rapinoe, as well as a transgender woman, brand spokesmodels and getting rid of its famous “Angels” supermodels – gained “favorable reviews from online critics [but] never translated into sales.”

According to the numbers, the lingerie brand’s projected revenue for 2023 is $6.2 billion, which is 5% lower than it was last year, and even lower than 2020, when the brand’s revenue was $7.5 billion.

Looks like the business woke up and realized that Victoria's Secret Agenda wasn't working after all.

...and getting rid of its famous “Angels” supermodels – gained “favorable reviews from online critics [but] never translated into sales.”

Maybe Victoria's Secret was not getting the sales they were wanting, but I'm glad that it at least made eight or so online critics feel good about themselves.

The servers at Ojos Locos wear lingerie as their work uniform. Looks better than anything in the Victoria's secret catalog.

Wal-mart had a bunch of clearance items dumped on a big table at the front of the store, I took Grandmonkey (8) to show me what she wanted for Christmas and we passed by a table with bits of lace sewn into a Y shape, aka butt floss, and she picked one up and asked What is this? I said underwear and she replied, FOR WHO?! The look on her face was hysterical. I'm guessing a lot of parents had to answer a few questions that day.
