A 16-year-old boy was brutally mauled by a shark while swimming alone off the coast of Jamaica, marking an extremely rare attack for the Caribbean island, authorities said.

Divers found Jahmari Reid’s decapitated body Tuesday morning, one day after he vanished during his solo spearfishing expedition near the popular tourist town of Montego Bay.

The teen’s left arm was also missing and the remainder of his body was badly mutilated, witnesses told the Jamaica Observer.
A tiger shark was spotted stalking the tropical waters where Jahmari’s severed arm was found, leading rescue teams to suspect the ocean predator was the culprit.

That is literally one of my worst fears. I love the beach, I love fishing (from shore or the safety of a boat) I love marine life-it's fascinating but scary as SHIT to me! Sharks scare me to death, we frequent the beach, I don't go past my knees, my kids laugh at me accusing me of being paranoid as I seem to think that every shark is after me and is going to find me-LOL The kids actually love it when I go to the beach with them, they get to laugh and pick on me the whole time-poor me! That poor kid, the terror he must of felt, I probably would of dropped dead of a heart attack before the shark could kill me had I spotted it first. I have been to Jamaica, beautiful clear water, I still only went knee deep. I would rather, and would do in a heart beat, strap a rocket on my ass and blast off into outer space-but diving? Submersibles-no way, I don't know anyone who could pay me enough $! RIP poor young man
