Her mother (Elish Hill) told investigators she left Zaniyla in the care of a friend while she went to work. She later received a call saying Zaniyla was “lying on her back” and not acting like herself. When she returned, she found the child unresponsive.
Zaniyla was transferred to Albany Medical Center, where she died on August 6.
An autopsy determined Zaniyla died from lack of oxygen to the brain caused by inner-skull bleeding. Investigators said the injuries are believed to have occurred on August 1.
Elisha describes a prior incident where Baby Z had marks on her body after being watched by the same people. the baby was brought to the hospital. a cps investigation was opened but later closed.
"So before it, there was an incident with them, but when I brought her to the hospital with the babysitter, the hospital's doctors told me it literally just came from him like throwing her in the air, throwing her too hard in the air," Elisha added.

Police are investigating the homicide of a one-year-old Baby Z.Anyone with information is asked to call 1-866-313-TIPS (8477).
