Joe and Jill Biden arrived on Nantucket on Tuesday for Thanksgiving after the White House defended their stay at billionaire David Rubenstein's private compound on the posh island.

The Bidens' children Hunter and Ashley were with them as were Hunter's wife Melissa and a gaggle of grandkids: Naomi, Finnegan, Maisy, Natalie, Hunter, and Beau Biden; and, Peter Neal, Naomi's fiancé.

The Bidens landed after taking part in a service project at DC Central Kitchen with Vice President Kamala Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki defended the first couple's stay on the island off the coast of Massachusetts amid soaring prices where ordinary Americans are struggling to pay for their Thanksgiving dinners. Psaki said food prices weren't that high and everyone should spend the holiday with loved ones.

The White House stressed the Bidens have been going to Nantucket for 46 years since before Biden was a senator. The first couple are scheduled to return to the White House on Sunday.
The president has come under fire for spending his stay at the home of family friend Rubenstein, the billionaire co-founder of the Carlyle Group, and a former advisor to US President Jimmy Carter. Biden is close friends with the Carters and often visits their home.

The couple and their family will be staying on their close friend Rubenstein's $20million 13-acre compound on Nantucket Habor, an estate Biden visited in 2014 when he was vice president.

Rubenstein, 72, is an American billionaire businessman with a net worth of $4.5 billion, according to Forbes. He is the co-founder of the private equity firm The Carlyle Group, a global investment company based in Washington D.C. The firm has $260 billion in assets under management.

Having you as President is not one of them.

Let them eat cake!

Maybe groceries don't seem that much higher on her salary, but I'm spending twice as much as I was and my salary is nowhere near what hers is. Of course, we all understand why billionaires whose corporations have made or will make a haul under Biden's policies want to show their appreciation.

So let me see if I have this right... "inflation isn't that high" yet my fucking paycheck hasn't changed in the 8 months this administration has been here. But my costs have doubled. Gas is $4/g (Las Vegas local), a 1/2 gallon of milk is 3.99 A carton of eggs is $3

Tell me how prices haven't changed you ignorant bitch

President Biden and first lady Jill Biden said they will spend Thanksgiving at the Nantucket home of a private-equity billionaire.

In a statement to reporters, the White House said, “The First Family will stay at the home of their friend, David Rubenstein, as they have done previously.” The buyout tycoon’s Nantucket spread spans 13 acres and is worth a reported $20 million.

Rubenstein, who is worth $4.6 billion, according to a Forbes estimate, co-founded private-equity behemoth The Carlyle Group. The Washington-based firm, which boasts $293 billion in assets, is known for its leveraged buyouts and investments that have included Dunkin’, Oriental Trading and Hertz.

Biden and his family have spent most Thanksgivings on the upscale Massachusetts island since the 1970s. They stayed at Rubenstein’s compound before — once in 2014 when Biden was vice president.

Photographers snapped photos of the couple descending Air Force One on Nantucket Island on Tuesday evening. It’s unclear if other Biden family members will join the festivities.

Rubenstein, 72, is vocal on political matters — including taxes — and has previously slammed Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s proposed wealth tax.

“If you tax the upper income, there aren’t enough of those people to really make a wealth distribution effect that’s going to be significant,” Rubenstein told CNBC in 2019.

Rubenstein also has been a supporter of the carried-interest loophole, a tax break that treats private equity profits like capital gains rather than income. The loophole is seen as a giveaway to financiers since it allows them to pay a lower tax rate on their profits.

Rubenstein isn’t the only Carlyle alum to embrace politics. Ex-Carlyle co-CEO Glenn Youngkin just trounced Democrat Terry McAuliffe for Virginia governor — despite Biden’s best efforts to campaign for the latter.

Still, the White House was quick to defend Biden’s plans.

Ummmm I bet a .1% tax on him and others like him would bring in a whole lot more than 10% tax on all the poor and middle income in the US, well that is if they reported the entire amount they profited instead of hiding it whenever, however and wherever they can.

Such as asshole.

This why Biden removed the SALT tax Trump had imposed on those owning multi million dollar homes. Millionaires now save 80k a year, so much for making the rich pay. What’s amazing is all the dumb fucks that believe these fuckers because they smile and blow kisses while they fuck them. Obama was the best at smiling while he fucked you, and all the dumb fucks cheered him on

Ngl I think you Americans are losing your minds over nothing. He didnt buy the damn place lol Hes going for dinner.

As for the price hikes and wage gaps, those are happening around the world. A lot of it comes down to how covid has effected workplaces and where groceries are concerned, some of the biggest producers for food have been impacted by various things from bird flus to natural disasters. In fact US milk prices still havent reached what they are in Canada. Milk prices there have reached $4.99 for 2 liters in some areas. For perspective..2 liters is 0.5 gallons..thats $10 for a gallon of milk. The cheapest milk possible is $4.65 for what works out to be 1 gallon and those prices are only in 3 provinces.

So many things people could complain about but people choose to focus on blaming people for things out of their control. He's a figure head, nothing more. Same with every other president. Real reform isnt done by complaining someone gets a bigger turkey than you do! Then again Im an avid believer that people shouldnt be stuffing themselves in celebration of slaughtering innocent natives and even though our thanksgiving is different, I havent celebrated it in over a decade :bag:

It’s not about where he’s spending thanksgiving, it’s about his fake make the rich pay bullshit. While he and his rich friends party, rest of the country is suffering from inflation caused by his fake build it better, green policies. Some regular Americans can’t even afford to drive to family thanksgiving dinner cause of inflated gas prices/ food prices, flying home is also hurting the holidays, airlines raising prices, cause of spike in fuel. His flying to the extremely rich friends island for thanksgiving and pretending inflation is a short transitory event and not destructive to the less affluent, makes him seem, like the old day aristocrats. I wouldn’t be surprised to her him say “let them eat cake” it’s all about impressions and his sucks since Election Day. He has no idea about life outside of his rich powerful, affluent political lifestyle. He’s been fucking the people for over forty years, as far as he’s concerned all is great, after all he’s finally president.
Removing the SALT tax, was a loss of billions of tax dollars and only helped the extremely wealthy of New York and Commifornica, the two Democratic strong holds that always get Dems elected, so much for making the rich donors pay
Edit, yes caused by his policies, not issues out of his control
Thanksgiving celebration is about the harvest, not slaughtering natives

Ya might want to do a quick google search and learn some history lol It has nothing to do with the harvest and anyone thinking that, doesn't know the history at all. Celebrating the harvest and friendship is what those in power, over 200 years after the fact, wanted you to think..its not what actually happened. It is fairly well known what really happened and only in American history books is it edited. The pilgrims didnt invite the wampanoag tribe to a feast in 1621, they were celebrating their own victories over another tribe and the gunfire from doing so brought a wampanoag war party in because they had an alliance with the pilgrims to help them defend. This is the thanksgiving thats referred to as the first. It wasn't about saying thank you for teaching us how to survive lol

The 'real' thanksgiving celebration the pilgrims had, involved fasting and prayer. No food. The feast were only done in celebration of conquering the natives. The very first thanksgiving in 1621 was done for this reason but wasnt actually called thanksgiving. The first thanksgiving in 1637 were the term was coined.. Massachusetts Governor John Winthrop declared a day of thanksgiving after volunteers murdered 700 Pequot people. Men women and children ambushed. It wasn't even a war party. They slaughtered innocent people to take what wasn't theirs.

To natives, Thanksgiving is called the National Day of Mourning.

The settlers were too lazy and full of turkey to go do any slaughtering on thanksgiving day
That was one line of my post, good grief, you found something you could question, good for you

Honestly who gives a fuck about what happened In the past.

Indians were slaughtering other Indians.

Europeans were slaughtering other Europeans.

Asians were slaughtering Other Asians.

Africans were slaughtering other Africans.

Muslims were slaughtering everyone - and still are.

No group of people are exempt from having committed atrocities.

I don't envy these elites because they had to step on many people on their way up and have basically sold their souls to the devil to get where they are. They may be living it up now, but when it comes time to cash in their chips, things will get very dark for them...

@Freyja

If only that were true. Most of these people will never suffer the fates that they subject us common folk to.

I also find it humorous that people want to continue to push the narrative that Native Americans were peaceful and not as blood thirty as every other civilization that has existed.

I don't really care where Biden spent his holidays but I do care that he is a hypocrite, a liar and an all-round despicable person.

This brings up the "stolen land" argument for me. Is it? Or is it conquered land? And just like every other place in the world that has been conquered, thousands of years (or hundreds in America's case) and yet things remain mostly the same. I didn't steal shit. I'm tired of being made to pay the price for shit other people did. I wasn't there. I couldn't have had an impact. Making people suffer for things their ancestors did is stupid. Love, Me.
