A 17-year-old girl has died after she grabbed a deputy’s gun at a Los Angeles sheriff’s station over the weekend and shot herself, authorities said.

The teen was knocking on the front door of the station in City of Industry around 7:40 p.m. and when deputies answered the door, she “lunged into the lobby and reached for the deputy’s holstered firearm and took possession of it,” the LA County Sheriff’s Department said.

The girl began to cause a commotion, making noise and banging on glass inside the station, according to the Los Angeles Times.

“A struggle ensued between the deputies and juvenile who was armed with the deputy’s firearm,” officials said. “During the struggle, the juvenile suffered from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”

That's crazy because I was 22 once and tried to take a gun out of a holster to shoot the cop who owned it and couldn't get it out. After him and his buddys beat my ass I asked why the gun didn't come out of the holster? It just raised his belt up. He told me there is a safety on the the holster as well you have to push down then pull up. I wonder how the 17 year old knew to do that.....
Or is there more to this story than meets the eye?

Wow. She was determined to die I guess. The cops must have been totally caught off guard. Wonder what's going on in their minds right now.
Probably really fucked up flashbacks... It's just tragic for everyone involved. Those who saw it, those who clean up after... Those people are gonna have to live with that, possibly replaying it in the back of their minds for years ahead.
I feel sorry for her, that she felt this was her best option...
