Deputies with the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office responded for a domestic incident, after a third party called to report that a child had been burned by a fire.

The six-year-old girl and her mother were across the street at a neighbor's house when authorities arrived, and both had "significant" burns, according to a statement from the sheriff's office. They were taken to a local hospital for treatment, and both are currently in stable condition.
According to an investigation by the sheriff's office, the 17-year-old male who lived at the incident location "intentionally" pushed the girl into the fire, causing her injuries. Her mother was burned while rescuing her daughter from the fire.

The 17-year-old, who has also not been publicly identified, was arrested on charges of attempted murder and second-degree assault.

According to the sheriff’s office, the teen lives with them, and a neighbor, Jason Davis, intervened.

“I look across the street and I saw a lady on the ground. Looks like she was fighting with somebody,” Davis said. “Well the next thing you know I saw a young guy took the young girl away from her and went around the back of the trailer and threw her into the fire and landed on top of her.”

After confronting the teen and helping get the girl and her mother to safety, he said the boy chased after them.

“He just flopped in the front yard and he said I love you about seventy times,” Davis explained. “He was on something I don’t know what he was on but he was on something. He wasn’t in his right mind.”
