Teaching Assistant Charged With Assaulting Special-Needs Boy

"Two teaching assistants and a bus driver have been charged in connection to an alleged attack on a nonverbal special-needs student in Tennessee, according to arrest records.

Knox County teaching assistant Robert Wilson, 40, was charged Wednesday with aggravated assault, news outlets reported, citing an arrest warrant. He is accused of hitting the 17-year-old student with his elbow and punching the teen in the face, according to the warrant. The student suffered a broken nose and a chipped tooth in the December 2019 encounter on a Knox County school bus, records said.

Teaching assistant Elena Banks, 38, and bus driver Jeannie Hurst, 55, were charged with not reporting child abuse, warrants said."
