GREENSBURG, Ind. -- Two adults were arrested Friday after a 12-year-old boy was found dead in a Greensburg, Ind. home.

According to a release, Greensburg police officers were dispatched to a home in the 600 block of E. Washington Street after a 911 call of an infant barely breathing.

When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a 12-year-old boy was dead. The child's cause of death was to be determined pending an autopsy. The name of the boy was being withheld pending notification of relatives, according to the release.

During the initial investigation, officers arrested 29-year-old Tasha Parsons and 30-year-old Waldo Lynn Jones, Jr.

Parsons was preliminarily charged with murder. Jones was preliminarily charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death, a class A felony.

The Greensburg Police Department have arrested two individuals, and charged one with murder, after a 12-year-old was found dead.

On Friday afternoon at about 3:30 pm, the Greensburg Police Department received a 911 call of an infant barely breathing in the 600 block of E. Washington St. When police arrived at the house, Devin Parsons, 12, was found dead at the scene.

Following an investigation, police arrested Tasha M. Parsons, 29, and have charged her with Murder.

The Decatur County Prosecutor's Office released more information Monday on the death of Devin Parsons, 12.
A criminal charge of murder was filed against Devin's mother, Tasha Parsons, 29. Charges of neglect of a dependent, causing death, were also filed against Waldo Jones, 30.
An autopsy on Devin Parsons is scheduled for Tuesday, June 7.
According to court documents, on June 3, Tasha Parsons beat her son with her hands and feet and with physical objects, including a belt and metal tray, eventually causing his death. The beating took place over a number of hours.
Parsons told police that Devin took her Percocet pills, and would not tell her where to find them.
Jones, who had lived with Parsons and her children for about 12 months, was home at the time of the beating. He told police he tried to intervene a couple of times.
Parsons told police that Jones also participated in the beating, and helped clean Devin's wounds. When Devin lost consciousness, Jones left the home without seeing medical attention for Devin. Jones was found less than an hour after police were notified of the death.

GREENSBURG, Ind. (WISH) - Don Bultman is Tasha Parsons landlord. Parson and her boyfriend Waldo Jones were taken into custody Friday after Parsons 12-year old son was found dead possibly by their hands. Bultman only talked to 24-Hour News 8 about what he saw earlier that day before the boy was found dead.
"It was none of my business to ask him what he done or anything, really he's not even on the contract." Don Bultman said.
Landlord Don Bultman reached out to us after finding out 12-year-old Devin Parsons was murdered inside his property on Washington Street.
24-Hour News 8 met him back at the house where the unthinkable happened.
The home still covered yellow crime scene tape...
Bultman says he was at the house Friday morning and spoke with a rambling Waldo Jones.
"I listened and while he's standing there I noticed he had dried blood, while he's standing there I noticed he had dried blood under his shirt and down his right arm."
'I was in the living room, I don't feel like I should look around, if I want to look around I give them three days notice."
He doesn't know where the blood came from or if it's even connected.
We do know several hours later 12-year-old Devin Parsons was found dead inside the house.
Jones' sister spoke with us yesterday.

The boy's mother, Tasha Parsons, admitted to beating the boy according to court documents. Family members, however, claim her boyfriend Waldo Jones was ultimately responsible for Devin's death.

Police say 29-year-old Tasha Parsons admitted to beating Devin for several hours Friday, after the boy hid some of her prescription pain pills from her. Greensburg police say the boy died from his injuries and they charged Tasha with murder. Devin's grandmother, Jeannie Welsh, claims Waldo Jones was the one who got Tasha hooked on the drugs so he could have them for himself.

"He would make her hurt herself so she would go to the emergency room and get pain medicine for him," Welsh said.

Welsh said Devin told her that he wanted to take the pills from her mom because they made her turn violent.

"He said, 'Mamaw, I want to stay with you,'" Welsh said. "He said 'I'm not telling them where those pills are.' He said 'I'm tired of getting hurt.'"

Court records also show the Department of Child Services was involved with Tasha and her children before Jones was living in their home. In March 2009, DCS opened a case with the family and started a six-month program involving counseling and family education.

At that time, none of the three children were taken from the home and Tasha was allowed to maintain custody of them. Tasha is going even further with her claims of Waldo's involvement. Family members who have spoken with Tasha on the phone from inside the jail said Tasha claims Waldo Jones actually killed Devin on Friday. She claims Devin was still alive after several hours of beatings but when Waldo put the boy in the bathtub to clean up his wounds, Devin drowned.
Investigators would not comment on those claims. Court documents make no mention of any evidence of drowning.

June 20, 2012 (GREENSBURG, Ind.) -- A southeastern Indiana woman has pleaded guilty to murder in the beating death of her 12-year-old son for hiding her illegally obtained prescription painkillers from her.

Thirty-year-old Tasha Parsons of Greensburg will be sentenced to 60 years in prison under a plea agreement in which prosecutors agreed to drop a charge of neglect of a dependent. Sentencing is set for July 20 in Decatur Superior Court.

The Greensburg Daily News reports Parsons unexpectedly entered the plea during a hearing Tuesday afternoon after fighting the charges for months in the June 2011 death of Devin Parsons.

During the hearing, prosecutors played a video in which the woman admitted to "kicking and stomping" Devin 14 or 15 times and punching him in the head after he hid the pills.

I have to say when I started reading the thread I knew it was illegal prescriptions because you can get new ones if something happens to legitimate scripts (I was on a lot for years, completely addicted too, clean now). My oldest is almost 12 and I cannot imagine doing anything like this. My boys were what gave me the strength to get through withdraw. All he wanted to do is save his mom. Shoot her, often, non-fatally and let her feel it all without benefit of pain killers that her son died trying to save her from.

That's the saddest part- he loved her enough to try to help her, and she beat him to death for it. I can't imagine beating anyone for hours, for any reason, let alone a child! People like that don't deserve to live, in my opinion. This is why, despite the problems we have with capital punishment in this country, I can't bring myself to condemn its use. If anything, I think it needs to be used more. The bad thing is that I've never heard of a parent getting it for abusing their kid to death- and those are the ones most deserving of CP, I think.
