'Take it off or I'll rip it off' student confronts a classmate for wearing a MAGA hat and Trump 2020 flag

A black Oklahoma student is facing a possible criminal charge after he was filmed confronting a white classmate who was wearing a MAGA hat and Trump 2020 flag as a cape.

The incident occurred in the hallway of Edmond Santa Fe High School, north of Oklahoma City, on Monday.

Cellphone footage of the incident has since gone viral on social media.

The video shows 18-year-old Kenneth Dewayne Jones confronting an underage student who was wearing a red MAGA hat and had a Trump 2020 flag draped around his shoulders.

'Take it off or I'll rip it off… do you want me to rip it off?' Jones, who was wearing a yellow vest, could be heard saying as he blocked the other student from walking by.

He then grabbed hold of the Trump flag before knocking the MAGA hat off the other student's head.

The video shows the 18-year-old ripping the flag out of the student's hand and throwing it to the ground as another teenager tried to intervene.

Jones was issued with an assault and battery summons by a school resource officer.

He has not been charged.

Police said the family of the boy wearing the MAGA hat has several days to meet with authorities if they wish to pursue the assault complaint.

The 18-year-old told KOCO 5 that he plans to apologize to the student, while the family of the victim say they plan to purse the charges.

Of course he should be charged. Ridiculous. Of course, he probably would't get any time and it could cause problems for the MAGA student. On principle, though, definitely charge him.

Back when I was in high school, about the only piece of objectionable clothing that was worn was the "Gas, grass or ass. No one rides for free" T-shirt. Of course, the only ones that objected to it were the faculty and staff.

Charges are ridiculous, no one got hurt at all. It doesn't even sound like the clothing was damaged. Not worth giving a freaking arrest record to an 18 year old that will stay with him forever, that's how you create unemployable criminals right there and this is some petty ass shit.

Can't schools just suspend students and issue shitloads of detentions or ban them from proms? Why does EVERYTHING have to be a police issue in the schools now? They can't handle jack shit anymore on their own. There are so many goddamn punishments that fit the crime of a dumbass high school kid, and a criminal record is not one of them.

While I don't think the young man who initiated the attack should go unpunished, to be fair the MAGA guy knew that he was wearing potentially inflammatory garments. You'd have to have been living under a rock for the last three years to not know how high tempers flare with the political divide. Also I wonder if the yellow vest had any significance or if the Daily Fail is just pointing it out because of the recent violence in Europe.
