A man was arrested Wednesday after he fatally shot a young mother and tried taking her child in DeKalb County, officials said.

Police responded to a day care in the 5300 block of Snapfinger Park Circle, where 22-year-old Taco Nash “forcefully removed” Mi’Ckeya Montgomery, 21, and her child from the location, DeKalb police spokeswoman Officer Elise Wells said. When Montgomery tried to flee, Nash shot and killed her, according to Wells.

Montgomery’s family members, who told Channel 2 Action News that Nash was the 16-month-old’s father, said she was shot in a wooded area near the day care.

I am not sorry to say - what was this woman thinking dating this ugly ass piece of shit.

A 25-year-old piece of excrement was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, two additional life sentences and 60 years.
On Wednesday, a jury found Taco Nash Jr. guilty of malice murder, four counts of felony murder, aggravated assault (family violence), two counts of kidnapping, aggravated stalking, first-degree cruelty to children, and gun possession charges.
The incident happened on June 15, 2022, at the daycare center on Snapfinger Drive in unincorporated Decatur. Officers received a call about a kidnapping.

The victim, 22-year-old Mi'ckeya Montgomery, was there to pick up her and Nash's young child when he showed up unexpectedly.
According to the district attorney's office, the two had a "tumultuous relationship," where they were involved in violent incidents.

The court ordered that the two should not contact each other. Montgomery told the daycare staff that if Nash showed up at the center, they should call 911, according to a release from the district attorney's office.
On the day of the murder, Nash confronted Montgomery and their child. He tried to convince the 22-year-old mother to leave with him, but instead, a daycare employee pulled Montgomery and the child back into the building and called 911.

That's when, according to the district attorney's office, Nash forced his way in and chased the two around the building while several children and staff were in the building.

He then pointed a gun at Montgomery and threatened to shoot her in the face, then forced her and the child out the back door, over a fence and into a wooded area, the release stated.
Daycare staff then heard screaming coming from the wooded area and called 911 again for help. A family member of Montgomery's, who was tracking her phone, arrived and attempted to locate her. Police arrived shortly after the family member, who informed them they were in the woods behind the daycare. As officers went toward the area, they heard a single gunshot, the news release added.
After several minutes, Nash came from the wooded area with his child in his arms, claiming Montgomery had shot herself. The child was covered in blood and taken to the hospital for medical attention, while Nash was taken into custody.
Montgomery was found dead in the woods and was shot in the head. A firearm was found under her hand, but the DeKalb County Medical Examiner's Office determined that someone shot her, according to the release.

Prosecutors added that Montgomery's family member shared with officers that Nash called her before coming from the woods and admitted to killing the 22-year-old mother.
