How do these people afford to have so many children? Oh forgot on the American tax-payers dime:rolleyes:

A Somali import has been charged with manslaughter and four counts of child endangerment in connection with the 2023 death of her 3-year-old son and the discovery that her four other children were also severely malnourished.

The Dakota County Attorney’s Office brought the charges against 35-year-old Saynab Abdullahi Dahir this month, with an office spokesperson attributing the two-year delay to “extensive investigation” in the case.

Prosecutors allege Dahir withheld food from her children, forced them to vomit when they did eat and failed to provide medical care, leaving them severely malnourished and significantly underweight.
“Her youngest child died after contracting an illness while starving,” Assistant Dakota County Attorney Caitlyn Prokopowicz wrote in a July 10 memo to the judge while requesting that Dahir’s bail be set at $750,000.

Prokopowicz said the high bail amount was warranted given the severity of the charges and because Dahir is considered a flight risk because she has ties to family members outside of the United States. The left leaning judge issued a $50,000 bail which Dahir posted on July 10th and is probably working on replacing the child she killed.
The charges say Dahir’s 3-year-old son collapsed at a park in Eden Prairie on June 4, 2023, and was found by police officers to be in cardiac arrest. First responders noted the boy was malnourished and dehydrated, with visible ribs, swollen joints, poor limb development and broken or missing teeth.

The boy was transported to Children’s Hospital, where doctors noted he was severely malnourished and underweight for his age. Clinical and laboratory findings indicated the boy was dehydrated at the time of his cardiopulmonary arrest. A CT scan revealed volume loss of his brain.

The boy never regained consciousness and died nine days later.

They should tell her she can leave but the surviving children will remain here and if she returns to this country she will be be eligible for the death penalty.

There are a lot of hard working American families that would love to provide for her anchor kids.

Shouldn’t it be made clear in these threads when it’s quoted in the news article and when you @Sugar Cookie are editorializing. It’s made to read like it’s entirety from the article you linked (except your pre and post comments) when it is not.

According to the complaint, Eden Prairie police and paramedics were called on June 4, 2023, to a beach in a city park, where they found the boy in cardiac arrest. He was visibly malnourished and dehydrated, with ribs protruding, swollen joints, poor muscle development, and broken and missing teeth.

Dahir told first responders the boy had been sick for a week, refused to eat solids and seemed dehydrated. She said she brought him to the beach to “sweat out” the illness and gave him a sip of water before his eyes rolled back.
At Children’s Hospital, doctors found evidence of brain volume loss linked to chronic malnutrition, along with infections that a pediatric abuse specialist said were more likely – and potentially deadly – because of his condition.

While the boy was hospitalized, Dahir allegedly tampered with medical equipment and handled his jaw and throat in ways that could obstruct his breathing, prompting staff to limit her visits. He remained hospitalized for more than a month before his death on July 13, 2023.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner cited complications from anoxic encephalopathy due to cardiac arrest, with malnutrition and a urinary tract infection as contributing factors. At autopsy, he weighed 25 pounds – less than the first percentile for his age.
The complaint also describes a pattern of abuse involving the boy and his four siblings, then ages 5 to 9. The children told investigators Dahir forced them to vomit by inserting her fingers or other objects down their throats, sometimes while restraining them. They said she discouraged medical visits, telling them doctors “kill people.”
After being placed in their father’s care in June 2023, all four surviving children – who were medically underweight when removed from the home – gained significant weight, according to the complaint.
