A 4-month-old baby died after being rushed to the hospital from Lake Havasu for a reported heat-related illness during the Fourth of July weekend.

The Mohave County Sheriff's Office said the baby was transported from a boat on the lake to the Lake Havasu Regional Medical Center on July 5 at about 5 p.m.

The child was eventually taken to Phoenix Children's Hospital and later died. MCSO said detectives are continuing to investigate the baby's death.

The medical examiner has not yet released the baby's cause or manner of death.

The 4-month-old baby, who died after she was exposed to 120 Fahrenheit temperatures while aboard a boat with her family on Lake Havasu in Arizona last summer, died of complications of environmental heat exposure, medical examiners stated on Monday.

Tanna Rae Wroblewski‘s cause of death was released by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office on Monday, March 5, with the report stating the infant dying after losing consciousness at around 5 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024.

Tanna Rae’s death was ruled an accident caused by exposure to elevated environmental temperatures, which were estimated to be 120 degrees, per the medical examiner’s report. As a result of the environmental heat exposure, the baby suffered hemorrhagic shock, anoxic brain injury and dehydration, People Mag citing the Medical Examiner’s report, stated.

Despite public outcry, no charges were ever brought against Tanna Rae’s parents.

Authorities are reviewing whether to charge the parents of an infant girl who died during a family boat trip last year during Fourth of July weekend.

A case has been forwarded to the Mohave County Attorney's Office "for review of potential negligent homicide charges" against Matthew and Alyssa Wroblewski, the parents of 4-month-old Tanna Rae Wroblewski, according to a press release issued Tuesday by the Mohave County Sheriff's Office in Kingman, Arizona, and obtained by Newsweek. The determination was made after the sheriff's office received an autopsy report on Monday.

In an email to Newsweek on Tuesday evening, the attorney's office said: "Our office is currently reviewing the case. There is no new information our office can provide at this time." Newsweekalso reached out to the sheriff's office for comment.

The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on Tuesday that prosecutors have declined to file charges against the parents of an infant girl who died while her family was boating on Lake Havasu during extreme heat over the Fourth of July weekend last year.

MCSO said in a social media post that it was told on Friday that the case had been dropped against the parents due to “insufficient evidence” and a conviction wasn’t likely due to issues surrounding the official cause of death.

The sheriff’s office said there were issues involving the cause of death. According to the Today’s News-Herald, a newspaper in Lake Havasu City, Mohave County Attorney’s Office said there were conflicting autopsy reports, so prosecutors went to additional experts for more information. While the Valley medical examiner said 4-month-old Tanna Rae Wroblewski died from heat-related causes, two Kingman pathologists agreed with a California pathologist that the baby choked on regurgitated milk.

According to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, Tanna had spent most of the day on a boat at Lake Havasu, where the high temperature was estimated to be upwards of 120 degrees on July 5, 2024.

According to the medical examiner’s report conducted in Maricopa County, the baby and her family were on the boat from about 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. The girl was in the water on “multiple occasions” during that timeframe to keep her cool.


The parents then put Tanna down for a nap and went into the water for a “brief time,” officials said. When they returned, Tanna wasn’t moving and had blood coming from her nose. Family members called 911 and began CPR.

She was rushed to a Lake Havasu hospital and then flown to Phoenix Children’s Hospital, where Wroblewski was intubated. She later died. Doctors had shared concerns about dehydration.

what is the dif. if the baby was left in a car with inside temp of 120 degrees or outside on a boat with same temp ...i had family members living in arizona and heck they did everything at night after the sun when down and it was somewhat cooler.. heck if they wanted to enjoy that kind of heat at least get a sister and leave the kids in a place with a good working a/c like your home or a motel room etc it sure doesn't get that hot where i live but in temp is of a certain degree (can't remember how high but heck i don't think we ever had a temp higher than 95)and we have heat advicery stanting it is dangerous for children seniors and pets to be outside
