Evansville Police were called on Sunday, April 6, 2025, for a reported shooting. The girl, identified as 14-year-old Florencia Henthorn, died shortly after being transported to a local hospital.

According to Rock County District Attorney Jason Sanders, Henthorn had spent several weeks staying with the couple, who had given her methamphetamine, cocaine, THC and alcohol, and had recorded themselves sexually assaulting her.

Authorities said she was alone with Drefahl when there was an argument about the videos, with Henthorn scared they were being shared or sold. She took Drefahl’s gun and shot herself in the head, investigators said.
“Rather than render aid, (Drefahl) called Ahrens and then his mom, taking the gun and fleeing the scene,” prosecutors said.

Investigators determined Drefahl was the driving force in the sexual assaults, although Ahrens was a willing participant. Prosecutors noted that Ahrens and her family were more cooperative with investigators looking into the case.
Hunter Drefahl, 26, pleaded guilty to 2nd Degree Sexual Assault of a Child and Child Sexual Exploitation. He was sentenced to 18 years in prison with 10 years parole.

Alyssa Ahrens, 20, pleaded guilty to Sexual Exploitation and Delivery of Methamphetamines. She was sentenced to 15 years in prison with 10 years parole.
“He is not her murderer,” Sanders said, “but he is logically, and morally, responsible for her death. As he watched her twitch, this girl he claimed to love, he had to make a choice, and he chose to take his gun and run.”
