William Josef Baures, 28, was sentenced to 10 years in prison after being convicted of injuring his infant child.
The charge stemmed from a December 25, 2024 incident when deputies responded to Kootenai Health. The five-week-old infant was brought to the emergency room with a fractured femur.
Investigations revealed Baures had abused the child for weeks, causing over 25 fractures, including multiple leg and rib fractures. The abuse involved squeezing, shaking, and tossing the baby, among other actions.
Baures reportedly explained he was sleep-deprived and trying to calm the infant during these incidents.
Baures was sentenced on June 30, 2025, by District Judge Barry McHugh, who set parole eligibility after five years.
