Tensions were high in Rochester City Court Friday morning as Bryasia Love made her first court appearance since being charged with the murder of her 1-year-old son. It appeared that more than a dozen friends and family members were in court to witness Love's arraignment.
As Love entered the courtroom in a red and white striped inmate uniform, a member of the gallery shouted angrily at her and Love yelled back defiantly before court deputies restored order. As the proceedings came to a close, Love called out again to observers seated in the courtroom but was rushed out of the courtroom by a pair of deputies.

Love is charged with second-degree murder in the beating death of her son, A'mias Love, who died at Strong Memorial Hospital.
A felony complaint charges that Love subjected her son to "physical abuse by blunt force," which resulted in skull fractures, damage to his liver and right lung, severe damage to his eyes, and bruising on his head, neck and chest.

She is also charged with second-degree assault for subjecting her 2-year-old daughter to physical abuse.
The complaint alleges that Bryasia Love also assaulted her other child, a 2-year-old girl. According to Doorley, the child's injuries consisted of bruising and abrasions to her face, ears, neck, thighs, arms, and back. The girl was treated at the hospital and released to the safety of her grandmother, Doorley said.

A Rochester woman has admitted to the abuse that killed her infant son and injured her toddler daughter last year, according to the Monroe County District Attorney's Office.

Bryasia Love, 28, on Monday pleaded guilty in Monroe County Court to first-degree manslaughter and second-degree assault, both felonies, in the death of her 1-year-old son A'Mias Love and attack on her 2-year-old daughter.
Rochester police on Jan. 19, 2023, were called to Wilson Commencement Park Apartments in Rochester for reports of an unresponsive child. Police alleged that Love delayed seeking medical treatment for her son for hour hours after physically abusing the baby. A’Mias was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries five days later.

According to the criminal complaint, Love subjected her son to "physical abuse by blunt force," which resulted in skull fractures, damage to his liver and right lung, severe damage to his eyes and bruising on his head, neck and chest.

Judge Julie Hahn sentenced Bryasia Love to 25 years in prison for the manslaughter charge, and two years for the assault.

Judge Julie Hahn said in court Bryasia Love wanted a better life for her children than the one she grew up living. But that realization alone, wasn’t enough.
One-year-old A’mias Love was beaten so badly, his skull was fractured in several places, and he had internal injuries. He died five days later. Investigators discovered her daughter, two years old at the time, was beaten too.
Love called 911 that day to report her son was unresponsive. But according to prosecutors, she left out details.

“To tell the doctors and the first responders what happened and to get him the desperate medical help he needed – to maybe have a better outcome for him. And so at the end of the day that’s the takeaway. Yes there are resources available but there has to be ownership for her own actions,” prosecutors said.
Love pleaded guilty in May to manslaughter in A’mias’ death and to assaulting her daughter. Several family members showed up in court to support Bryasia. They said she was trying to be a better mother. She was living in a building with services for women, who’ve suffered abuse and trauma, like herself.
“When she reached out to help nobody was available. Nobody was available. You know, here it is, my niece is incarcerated, and she’s on more than nine different medications for depression, anxiety for PTSD, for all sorts of things, but nobody looked at that. My niece would never intentionally hurt her children she love her children,” a family member said.
Judge Hahn also issued an order of protection for Bryasia’s daughter. She’ll be living with Bryasia’s mother, moving forward.

Bryasia was too emotional to speak in court Tuesday. But her attorney read a letter she wrote, apologizing for her actions.
Bryasia said her life has been hard, and she hopes people can see she never meant for any of this to happen. The letter she wrote says in part:

“I cannot put into words how sorry I am. I rook away the first of everything in my child’s life. It breaks my heart everyday.”

Assistant District Attorney Sara VanStrydonck says while Love is taking responsibility for her actions, she can’t undo them.

This will always be where enablers minimize what abusive shitty parents do.

Love did not have to get pregnant and she could have surrendered her children to the state if she was depressed, overwhelmed, withdrawing from random dick

Auntie she is not the victim A'mias and his sister were.
