A 15-year-old Georgia girl was fighting for her life Monday after being mauled by two pitbulls while taking a walk in her neighborhood.

Joslyn Stinchcomb had her scalp torn off, her left ear bitten off and her trachea damaged in the vicious attack Friday in Barrow County, local paper Classic City News reported.

The soon-to-be high school sophomore was strolling in her Winder neighborhood when the dogs began chasing her.

A Barrow County sheriff’s deputy arrived to find the teenager lying face-down against a curb, with one dog grabbing her neck and the other gnawing at her head, according to a police report.

The deputy shot and injured one of the pitbulls as it approached him, scaring the other one off. The dogs were found at their owner’s house and later euthanized, the News reported.

The owner, 29-year-old Alexandria Torregrossa, was arrested and charged with reckless conduct after she returned home, according to the report.

Joslyn remained in the intensive care unit at an Atlanta hospital Monday. She initially had to be put on a ventilator because of the condition her trachea was left in.

Doctors were able to reattach her ear, but it’s unclear whether she will ever be able to use it again, her aunt, Charity Stinchcomb Montgomery, told the paper.

They “don’t know if she will be able to hear out of that ear,” Montgomery said.

The girl, a flutist in her school marching band, also lost much of her hair in the attack, and her aunt said there’s a chance it will never grow back.

So much nerve damage was done that it “may affect her smile, her blinking and other facial expressions,” Montgomery said.

“There is still so much that we don’t know about her injuries,” she added, “but we know that God knows and that can heal her.”

Joslyn is scheduled to undergo another surgery Tuesday in an attempt to repair nerves on the left side of her face, as well as her vocal cords and airway, family members said.

Reckless conduct!? That's it!?!?

I'm sure she will say they've "never been aggressive in the past."

If your dog mauls someone due to your negligence, you should do jail time. Ideally equivalent to the length of time they will spend recovering from their injuries.

Fuck irresponsible dog owners. With a rusty old shovel.

I pray the family sues the everloving fuck out it. Yes, I don't know if it is a he or she. What revolting irresponsible individual. That poor little girl.
I have my dog, Jerry. He's a Springer Spaniel. Pat him on the head a few times and he'll help you rob my house. A dog is supposed to be a friendly companion not predator.

And get what? Her fake blingy looking crap watch?
This bitch aint got shit.

She should go to prison for this. Im not talking 2.5 years. Should be 50.

I feel so bad for this girl - as a lifelong animal lover I’ve had a few bites and even the less vicious ones will mess you up for a while.
But I feel horrible for those dogs too- they learned that awful behavior from their evil owner, and they were put down for it. That wretched excuse for a human should be barred from owning another animal ever again.

Genetics play a role in behavior.
She may not have taught these dogs to be gamey and agressive. But i sure would bet she didnt correct it.

That poor girl, that had to be so terrifying. There should be stricter punishments for shitty pet owners. We have nine and not a single one has ever shown a bit of questionable behavior. I’m sure she just has them so that she comes off as more of a bad ass Latino gang banger, but there will always be a tougher bitch in prison.

definitely female. maybe ftm trans person. body is seven times the length of the head. A man, it's eight times. shape of skull, length of arms, etc, all tell the true gender. either way the cray cray bit*h needs to control her dogs. Doesn't look strong enough to.

Would her homeowners insurance cover this?
I seriously doubt she owns a home.
However, if the landlord allowed the dogs, then yes.
Or if the house is owned by a relative then yes.
But, its very common for people to lie to their insurance and say their dogs are lab mixes or hound mixes. Or simply say i dont own any dogs.
Most insurance companies will not write a policy knowing there is pitbulls there.

And sadly, no amount of money is going to make like whole again for this girl.

Yes, money will help.

But that bitch needs to go to prison.
Suppose she left a loaded gun on her porch and some kids going door to door selling candy picked it up and killed themselves or someone else.
This was even worse. It was two bombs waiting to go off.

Every Pittie I’ve met has been sweet and as big a clown as any kid could ever want. I hate what bad owners have done to them.

The grandmother, Sandra Stinchcomb, reported on Facebook that "Nothing I have ever seen, in EMT school or on any horror movie is as disturbing and graphic as seeing what these demons did to Joslyn."

After she was moved to Egleston, the grandmother reported that doctors are planning long-term measures for her recovery as there is the possibility that a tracheotomy might never be removed.

But her injuries are so extensive, doctors don't know if she will ever be able to speak again much less sing.

As far as Home Owners or Renter's coverage, no they will not cover this. Unless they signed a waiver the company will not even approve coverage for a home that has certain breeds (pits are always on that list)
With the waiver signed, it basically says if anything happens that concerns the dogs, the insurance company is not liable. You can, purchase pet liability coverage, however the cost is extraordinarily high.

A teenager from Georgia is recovering after she suffered severe injuries to her head and neck in a July pit bull attack. After months in the hospital, she was able to return home.

With signs offering prayers and a warm welcome home, family, friends and neighbors lined the streets Saturday for 15-year-old Joslyn Stinchcomb. First responders and a band of bike riders escorted the teenager to her home in Winder, Georgia.

“We’ve been praying for her this whole time, for her and her family,” supporter Karen White said. “It’s a blessing. God is still working miracles. I love how all of us can come together just as one.”

Joslyn spent the last three months in the hospital after she was attacked by a pair of pit bulls on July 31. Her mother wrote in a Facebook post in August that the 15-year-old was scalped, her trachea was crushed and lacerated and she lost an ear in the attack, which doctors reattached.

Though Joslyn has been through several surgeries over the last few months, the 15-year-old and her family could all smile at her homecoming, surrounded by the brave law enforcement officers who rescued her.

I'm glad she survived, and I'm glad she's well enough to go home, but this was a totally life changing event. Her face is now quite noticeably crooked due to the damage. It's quite possible that can't be fixed. She will have to live with these injuries for the rest of her life.

Hopefully a good plastic surgeon reads this story and offers their services.
