Court documents filed earlier this year show that a two-year-old’s death had signs of being struck with an object.

The documents filed show that when police and EMS arrived at the residence the mother was holding the child, and he was not breathing.

The child’s mother, 27-year-old Sexlyn Tataichy handed the child to EMS personnel who began CPR.
Documents show that while the child was in the ambulance, emergency personnel noticed bruising on the child’s arms, and abdomen, and noticed some blood in the nose.

Ultimately, life-saving efforts were unsuccessful and the two-year-old was pronounced dead at the hospital.

As Le Mars police began their investigation, they noticed red marks on the body and a lot of scratch marks, some six-eight inches long, consistent with being struck with some object.
Police say on September 24, Tataichy was charged with three Class B felonies:

  • Second-Degree Murder
  • Child Endangerment Resulting in Death
  • Child Endangerment, Multiple Acts

Okay but WHO looks at their newborn babe and names them "Sexlyn"? Seriously?

What was the name of the baby? "Bustin"?
"Beat-trice"?

Insane what names come out of the US.
I've read somewhere *most* states impose zero restrictions on naming a child.

And science has shown that yes, a person's name makes a difference in how people treat them throughout their life, which in turn shapes who they become.

Grandma and Grandpa should be charged for naming their baby the equivalent of "Incubator"

Not thinkers, lets say lol.

This bitch speaks Chuukese and is not fluent in English.

a Chuukic language of the Austronesian language family spoken primarily on the islands of Chuuk in the Caroline Islands in Micronesia.

She had 4 children under the age of four - now she has three.

The surviving children are in foster care.

She admitted to punching, pinching and hitting the 2 year old over a prolonged period of time.

A Le Mars woman has pleaded not guilty after being accused of murder as a result of severely punishing her two-year-old child.

According to court documents, Sexlyn Tataichy, 27, has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder, child endangerment resulting in death, and child endangerment – multiple acts. She submitted her written arraignment on Thursday, Oct. 10.
Tataichy is accused of endangering her two-year-old son from about April 30, 2023 until his death on April 29, 2024. She reportedly admitted that her punishments – which allegedly involved “punching, pinching and hitting” – for his behavior contributed to the boy’s death.
In an interview, Tataichy allegedly admitted to several different kinds of punishment, including “flicking” the child’s head, punching his lips and face, and whipping him with a phone charging cord and power cord.

According to court documents, Tataichy said that these punishments had never resulted in the boy becoming unconscious until the day of his death.

I thought her name was incredibly stupid, still do, but I wonder if it is pronounced differently than it's spelled since Sugar Cookie mentioned she's Chuukian(?) and mostly speaks Chuukese. I can't imagine Iowa has a large population of Micronesian people.

Good point! I guess the "-lyn" threw me off. It could not be English at all.

50,000 total reported speakers based on data from the 2000s means there could be much, much less today.

It also mentions an important population in Guam, which is a US territory. Immigration to the US mainland from its territories is not uncommon.

A Northwest Iowa woman charged with the murder of her two-year-old child has changed her plea.
Court documents filed on May 5, show that 27-year-old Sexlyn Tataichy entered a plea agreement.
The plea would see her pleading guilty to one of the three charges against her: Child endangerment resulting in death. That charge could carry up to 50 years in prison.
The state would then drop the first and third counts against her, second-degree murder and child endangerment - multiple acts.

The case stems from an incident on April 29, 2024, where Le Mars Police Department and Le Mars Rescue were dispatched for reports of an unconscious child.

Ultimately, life-saving efforts were unsuccessful, and the two-year-old was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Earlier filed court documents, emergency personnel noticed bruising on the child’s arms and abdomen while in the ambulance.

Le Mars police began their investigation, and they noticed marks and scratches on the child, some six to eight inches long, consistent with being struck with an object.

Court documents show 27-year-old Sexlyn Tataichy was sentenced to 50 years in prison. Those documents show she could be paroled before serving her full sentence.

The sentencing was on Monday, July 21, and comes after Tataichy pleaded guilty to one count of child endangerment resulting in death.
Tataichy was charged in September 2024 after authorities investigated the death of her two-year-old child.
