A Missouri mother has been charged with prostituting her severely disabled 14-year-old daughter with the mental capacity of a toddler in exchange for money and cocaine.

Renee Collins, 49, was charged on Tuesday with second-degree trafficking of a child and first-degree child endangerment.

Her boyfriend, 44-year-old William Thomas Jr, was charged with first-degree rape. They are both jailed in Boone County.

Court records say Collins' daughter has cerebral palsy and autism, and she is also partially deaf and uses corrective leg braces.

She was taken into protective custody in July 2017 and told authorities that her mother would 'loan' her to 'bad men,' including Thomas.

According to a probable cause affidavit cited by ABC17, law enforcement officials launched an investigation into Collins and her boyfriend after getting a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, saying that a teenage girl was being left in a room at The Welcome Inn on North Providence Road in Columbia with strange men for long periods of time.

A witness then came forward on July 7, 2017, telling police that Collins had been offered cocaine in exchange for allowing two men to have sex with her severely impaired daughter.

Once she was taken into protective custody, the victim told investigators that at least on one occasion, 'bad men' inserted a needle into her arm and injected her with 'medicine' after sex, according to the station KOMU.

The girl, who according to a caseworker has the mental capacity of a 2- of 3-year-old child and requires constant care, also allegedly accused Thomas of sexually assaulting her.

A Missouri mother has been charged with prostituting her severely disabled 14-year-old daughter with the mental capacity of a toddler in exchange for money and cocaine.
Renee Collins, 49, of Columbia, was charged on Tuesday with second-degree trafficking of a child and first-degree child endangerment.
Her boyfriend, 44-year-old William Thomas Jr, of Rocheport, was charged with first-degree rape.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children learned of the suspected child sex trafficking from the regional manager of The Welcome Inn hotel, where staff had become concerned for the teenager's safety.
Collins and her boyfriend were booked into the Boone County jail on Wednesday evening and their bond was set at $200,000 each.

Renee Collins was found guilty Friday night on all four charges against her in a sex trafficking trial.

Collins was found guilty of sex trafficking a child in the second degree, endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree, neglect of a child and accessory to rape in the first degree.
Prosecutors alleged Renee Collins and her boyfriend, William Thomas Jr., allowed men to have sex with her teenage daughter in exchange for drugs at the former Welcome Inn in Columbia.

The prosecution and defense finished their closing arguments in the trial just after noon on Friday. The jury then had deliberations for nearly six hours before making the final decision.
Boone County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Olufunmike Owoso defended the testimonies of the five witnesses brought forward during the trial. They included a former Welcome Inn manager, where the alleged incidents occurred; the victim's foster parent; a licensed therapist; a forensic interviewer; and a pediatrician.

Owoso argued that every witness the prosecution brought forward actually knew the victim and had spend time with her.
But that's where the defense attacked. Public defender Matthew Robbett argued that the victim, Collins's daughter, is mentally incapable of providing a true narrative. The daughter, who was 14 years old at the time, is autistic, Deaf and has cerebral palsy.

"The victim is not a reliable source of information," he said before the jury.
Robbett argued that every witness the prosecution called forward based their claims on what the victim told them. The only witness who directly stated the victim claimed she was raped was licensed therapist Donna Burgeson, who said the victim demonstrated the act using dolls.
The defense only called one witness during the trial, Collins herself.

Collins adamantly denied every charge and claimed she actually denied a man from having sex with her daughter in exchange for drugs.

Robbett compelled the jury to find Collins' testimony truthful.

"It is the truth. That's what she told you," he said.
Owoso reminded the jury that Collins changed her statement about using methamphetamines while the victim was in her custody. The prosecution also brought attention to the testimony of Dr. Holly Monroe, who said she observed injury to the victim's genitalia that were consistent with injuries seen in rape and sexual assault cases.

I get alcohol is a problem with folks, as in they feel they can control it.
I get that tobacco is a problem with folks, as in they feel they can quit.

Peer pressure plays a big part in people starting.

But with the information out there saying nothing good about drugs, why would anyone start.

It just never ceases to amaze me what some men will do. I see a child like that and all I could think would be to protect her, help her OMG! They must not see a human, a CHILD for God Sake! With leg braces! How could they? I just can’t comprehend it.
She allowed trauma and abuse to be heaped on her daughter, that slag probably didn't bother putting her leg braces on her. Jmho

So she's admitting there were men who wanted to have sex with her daughter in exchange for drugs, and she (and her lawyer) wants us to believe that she fended them off and her daughter, with the mental capacity of a toddler... is lying about being raped for shits and giggles?

So happy to see that the jury didn't buy it
