Sentenced: Overnight Guest, Nickarious D'Shun McConnico, Left His Gun On A Coffee Table.....

Police say a houseguest staying at an apartment over the weekend left a gun on a coffee table where it could be reached by a child. That child accidentally shot and killed themselves. Nickarious D'Shun McConnico was arrested and charged with criminally negligent homicide in the child's death.

Police officials say further investigation revealed that McConnico, an overnight guest, left a loaded gun on a coffee table before going to sleep. Police say evidence shows the 4-year-old ultimately was able to pick up the gun and fire it.

Nickarious McConnico pleas guilty to Criminally Negligent Homicide

Nickarious McConnico was charged with criminally negligent homicide in the death of a child at a Huntsville apartment on April 28.

Nickarious McConnico was sentenced to 12 months in the Madison County Jail.
