Sentenced: Omaha Police Arrest Woman Accused Of Felony Child Abuse In Same Case Her Husband Is Charged

An Omaha woman has been arrested in a case where her husband is already facing multiple charges.

Brandi Heywood faces five counts of felony child abuse and neglect.

Her husband, Christopher Heywood, is already in jail, facing six counts of first-degree sexual assault of a child.

According to court documents, the victim said they were sexually assaulted numerous times at two different residences and that the suspect often bought them gifts and took them to and from school.

Court documents said Brandi had certain knowledge that she failed to offer up, so she "failed to protect the physical and mental health" of the victim. It also alleges that Brandi could have potentially stopped the abuse.

A man who led a standoff with Omaha police while detectives tried to serve a search warrant for sex crimes against children several years ago has been sentenced.

After Christopher Heywood’s arrest in 2023, more allegations came to light among three victims, all known to him.

Heywood, 45, was sentenced Tuesday to serve 45-60 years in prison. He must also register as a sex offender.
