I'm not sure why we should be more concerned when trans people are murdered than when cis people are. The vast majority of these show no signs of being hate crimes, and the number isn't out of line with the murder rate in the general population.

You were right to make that point. A few on that list were at Club Q, and/but many of the other murders are unsolved with no suspects and took place with guns in public, not so clear cut
And as far as population % comparisons, your point could be valid.
Murder stats are only one measurement of violence. Perhaps I should have provided an alternative, more illustrative measurement of the upswing in violence AND hatred towards transgender people.
My point earlier was that equating pedophilia with transgendered people is not supported by a scrap of data. Not one iota.
It was ignorant OR intended to mislead.
It came from a place of bitter persistent hatred either way.
You don't have to look further than the pages here to see the uptick in the posting of threads that involve negative portrayals of the transgender. Some, like the one here, are newsworthy, but many of them?
Skewed, of mild interest, speculative, non-news. They serve one purpose-by overwhelming volume, to convince readers here that the transgendered are gross and deceptive, dangerous to everyone, whining criminals and the worst label that can be put on anyone? Pedophiles.
The word "grooming" has exploded online as the new anti-gay and transgender slur.
Violence against the trans community has increased by 400% in the last 4 years according to govt statistics.
And repeating this nonsense about them enough times seeps into the consciousness of people. They won't rent to or hire a transgender person if they feel this is true.

Can you imagine? Entire groups of people, organizations, that have meetings and activities and bylaws are centered solely around hating someone they don't know, have probably never met an example of?
Why should we care? So much hate with no reasoning and no pushback means that active anti-DaveL groups could happen.
Why not? That makes exactly as much sense.

And I doubt you'd dispute that foaming at the mouth irrational anger, yes, ANGER, at Transgendered people has taken over conversations? That this translates into harm?

@DaveL, my point was that malicious fabrications and hateful conclusions presented as fact, normalizes hatred for other groups of people, makes it easier to dehumanize them, makes it easier to discard them, increases violence against them, societal intolerance and only to serve fear-mongering to promote an agenda.
Look around here, at the articles being presented. Curated to promote a pov of who's "bad" and who's "good" by volume and generalization and faulty conclusions.

I don't care to be misled by alterations in cited quotes, or by a preponderance of threads which falsely lead one to believe there is an issue.
Replacing ignorance for hate rather than knowledge is unacceptable and should be condemned.
Many active members here know and care about a transgender person in their life.
That member, the meme, metaphorically, was yelling fire in a theater and not caring if people are trampled to death so long as they get the best seat in the house.
