Two parents in Moore are facing murder charges after their 6-year-old son, Levi, died of an overdose.
The two charged are Jerimy McKenna and Kimberly Blair.
Investigators say they found a significant amount of methadone in the child’s system.
The two are also charged with neglecting their 2-year-old son.
Although the incident happened in March, charges were just filed days ago.
Cleveland County District Attorney Greg Mashburn said the second-degree murder and child neglect charges were filed after investigators received the toxicology report and Medical Examiner’s report on the couple’s children.
On March 28, the boy was found dead in his bunk bed in his Moore home. Court records show that the child had significant amounts of methadone in his system – a drug Blair takes for opioid addiction.
While McKenna denied giving the boy methadone intentionally, according to court records, he admitted he could have done more to secure the methadone bottles.
Based on court documents, the couple’s 2-year-old son also tested positive for methadone, resulting in the neglect charges.
