Sheffield Village police say a woman was shot to death in the parking lot of the McDonald’s location just before 10 a.m.

The suspect, identified as James Kimbrough, is still on the run, according to Sheffield Village police.

Lt. Aaron Bober told 19 News that the suspect is the father of a child with the victim and was waiting for her in the parking lot as she came out of the restaurant for her break.

“We know he was waiting and when she was in the vehicle there was a conversation between the two of them and it ended badly, he presented a firearm and shot her,” Lt. Bober said.

Officers arrived and found the 24-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound. She eventually was pronounced dead from her injuries.

24-year-old Milenna Eileen was the mother of four children, two of those children are with Kimbrough, according to her family.

According to investigators, the victim had filed a protection order against Kimbrough.

“Yes, there was a court ordered temporary protection order between the two of them and he had made threats to the family,” Lt. Bober said.

Kimbrough also has outstanding warrants that are unrelated to the investigation.

The man convicted of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend outside the Sheffield Village McDonald’s in January 2022, has been sentenced to life in prison with first chance at parole after 31 years.

Earlier this month, James Kimbrough III pleaded guilty to several charges; including, aggravated murder, murder and felonious assault, for the death of Milenna Lopez, 24.
Kimbrough was also sentenced to two three-year firearms charges, which he will serve first.

Prosecutors dismissed kidnapping, aggravated burglary and burglary charges, domestic violence, endangering children and criminal damaging charges in two other cases from 2021 and 2022 where Lopez was the alleged victim and Kimbrough was the alleged culprit.

Those cases were dismissed "without prejudice," meaning they could be re-filed at a later date, Chief Assistant Prosecutor Chris Pierre said.
