Sentenced: Man, Woman Facing Charges In Death Of 2YO In Chillicothe On Christmas Eve

A 46-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman are both facing charges in connection to the death of a toddler last month.

Emergency crews responded to a 911 call of an unresponsive 2-year-old just before 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 24, 2021 in Chillicothe, Missouri.

Police said the child was taken to the hospital and was later pronounced dead by the Livingston County Coroner’s Office.

Later that evening, the case was turned over to Chillicothe detectives.

On Tuesday, Jan. 4, after further investigation, detectives arrested Avery Nicole Young and Christopher Robert Wilson, who both face charges of second-degree murder and endangering the welfare of a child.

Twenty-three-year-old Avery Nicole Young entered a guilty plea to the felonies of first-degree involuntary manslaughter and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Another Chillicothe resident arrested after the investigation, 47-year-old Christopher Robert Wilson, pleaded guilty and was sentenced in October. He was sentenced to the Missouri Department of Corrections for four years on second-degree involuntary manslaughter and seven years on possession of a controlled substance. The sentences were to run consecutively to each count and all other sentences.

Twenty-four-year-old Avery Nicole Young plead guilty in December of last year and was sentenced to 10 years for 1st Degree Involuntary Manslaughter and 5 years on each of two counts of possession of a controlled substance. The sentences are to all run consecutively.

The other person charged in the death of the child, 47-year-old Christopher Wilson pled guilty in October and was sentenced at that time to a total of 11 years in prison.
