Sentenced: Man Confessed To Beating The Mother Of His Child With A Hammer

The man who confessed to police that he had beaten the mother of his child with a hammer now faces eight years in prison.

A judge sentenced 30-year-old Jonthan Castro on charges of aggravated battery and domestic abuse. In October of 2018, he told police he had beaten the mother of his child following an argument.

According to a criminal complaint, he told police he “blacked out” and said “something inside me told me to finish her off.”

Prior to his sentencing, he apologized to the victim and her family.

Following his prison sentence, Castro will spend 10 years in extended supervision. During this time and after, he will not be allowed to have contact with his child, or the child’s mother.
