Nautica Blu Hamilton, 20, has pleaded guilty to taking explicit pictures of children under two years old.
Court documents stated an explicit photo of a child was shared on one of Hamilton’s social media accounts on July 27, 2023. The platform flagged the photo and reported it to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
On May 13, the detective approached Hamilton at her residence. She told him she had worked at two different day care facilities in Lubbock. The YWCA confirmed she was an employee for about five months in 2023.
Hamilton told the investigator she did not use the social media platform in question. He stated an account seemingly associated with Hamilton had shared a picture of child pornography during an online conversation.
Hamilton then admitted to being part of that conversation, but stated the explicit picture was of herself. However, the child in the photograph had a different complexion.
Court documents stated Hamilton began to cry and admitted the child was not her.
She then told the investigator she found the photo on the internet and was attempting to sell it for money. However, the investigator visited the day care facility and was able to identify a changing table pictured in the explicit photo.
At a later interview, Hamilton admitted to taking the picture. She also stated she took similar pictures of a different infant at the facility.
Hamilton entered a guilty plea on July 30. She will be sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison and must register as a sex offender.
