Sentenced: Louisiana Sheriff’s Corporal Arrested For Child Porn, Sexually Abusing Animals

A Sheriff’s corporal in Louisiana was arrested Thursday for charges of child pornography and allegedly sexually abusing animals.

Christopher Cassidy, who was a corporal with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office criminal patrol division, was booked and charged with 28 counts of possession of pornography involving children under the age of 13.

He is also facing 110 counts of sexual abuse involving animals, the exact nature of which was not immediately released by officials.

The investigation on the case is ongoing, and Cassidy, 35, was fired prior to his arrest, sheriff’s office officials said.

Former St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Corporal Christopher Cassidy was sentenced to 15 years in prison following his guilty plea to child pornography charges on Monday (June 24).

Cassidy pleaded guilty to 78 counts of pornography involving juveniles and 111 counts of sexual abuse of animals. Judge Tara Zeller issued the sentences to run concurrently and without the possibility of parole.

After serving his prison term, Cassidy must register as a convicted sex offender for 25 years.

The prosecution, led by Assistant District Attorney Iain Dover, was based on an investigation initiated by a tip received by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The tip concerned the uploading of child pornography linked to an email address belonging to Cassidy, who was then a corporal with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation revealed that Cassidy’s email was used to distribute numerous pornographic images of prepubescent children and photographs of Cassidy himself. Further examination of Cassidy’s internet accounts uncovered over 100 photos of sexual activity involving animals.

So he pleaded guilty to a total of 189 sexually abuse and deviant acts and only got 15 yrs-concurrently?! When he gets out he only has to register a sex offender for 25 yrs. and not the rest of his natural life-I don't care how geriatric he is when the 25yrs is up that is BULLSHIT, the sentence the registry all of it.
