The mother of a two-year-old boy and her boyfriend have been charged with involuntary manslaughter after the youngster died of a prescription drug overdose.

Tessa Gadd, 24, and John Hines, 33, were arrested and charged after toddler Lorenzo Ealom died of acute intoxication from suboxone - used to help addicts wean off heroin, Cleveland.com reported.

Court documents say the child also had 'indications of prior cocaine ingestion', and a high dose of Benadryl in his system when he died.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner ruled his death a homicide.

Neither Gadd or Hines called an ambulance after Lorenzo ingested the drugs. Instead, the toddler was taken to daycare.

Later, an ambulance was called, and Lorenzo was taken to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital.

Tessa Gadd was sentenced Tuesday on charges in connection with her son's overdose death.

The 2-year-old died after taking Suboxone in March 2018.

According to court documents, Gadd’s boyfriend, John Hines, Jr. took the drugs to her home.

The toddler had a high dosage of cough medicine and Benadryl in his system, along with indications of prior cocaine ingestion.

Gadd pleaded guilty last month to involuntary manslaughter and endangering children. She was sentenced to four years in prison with credit for her time served.

"I'm truly sorry for what happened to my child," Gadd said in court.

"Lorenzo needed you more than anybody else in the world. You were there to protect him, care for him, keep him away from all the evils in the world. You brought the evil into his house," Judge Michael Shaughnessy told her.

Hines was also sentenced Tuesday. He previously entered a guilty plea on charges of endangering children and involuntary manslaughter. The judge sentenced Hines to four years with credit for time served.

Lorenzo's life was only worth 4 years.

That gives mom enough time to come out make a replacement baby to neglect and endanger.

The judge should have made her say her son's name- to remind her that Lorenzo should have mattered more than the dick and drugs she loved more than him.
