Kiona Kunkler called 911 and said her 11-month-old child was missing, and hadn't been seen since the night before.

Police say they responded to the home and discovered the child was inside the family vehicle, which was parked on the street near the home.

Detectives say they believe the child had been inside the vehicle for approximately seven hours, and that "intoxication" was likely behind the criminal negligence.
Police say the child was quickly taken to the hospital for treatment, and that drugs and paraphernalia was found inside the house.

As a result of the investigation, Kiona Kunkler and Cody Christensen were both arrested and charged with neglect.

According to court records, Kiona Kunkler pleaded guilty to two counts of neglect of a dependent and was sentenced to 545 days. 180 days of that sentence were suspended to probation, with the rest eligible to be served under home detention.
Another person who was charged in the case, Cody Christensen, pleaded guilty to several charges late last year. Those charges included neglect, possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, and possession of a controlled substance. He was sentenced to a total of 16 years with the Indiana Department of Corrections.
