Sentenced: Hannah Wingert Told Police Her Bruised & Battered 2YO "Likes To Hurt Himself"

According to police, an officer was sent to do a welfare check on 20-year-old Hannah Rose Wingert's 2-year-old son, after a concerned caller reported that the child was covered with bruises.

When the officer asked Wingert to take a closer look at the boy, she reportedly stated, "Go ahead, but he looks really bad because 'he likes to hurt himself.'"

The officer says the boy's eyes were black and blue and swollen shut, he was sweating and lethargic, and most of his face, including the front and back of his ears, was severely bruised and swollen.

The boy also had small lacerations across the top of his forehead, neck, arms, and hands.

When the officer lifted up the boy's shirt to look at his stomach, there was extensive bruising across the top of his chest, and all the boy could say was, "Ouch."

The officer says it was clear that the boy had been severely beaten.

The boy was life-flighted to Children's Hospital Colorado where they confirmed he had multiple broken bones and internal injuries.

Wingert and her boyfriend, 21-year-old Joshua Dillon Moody, were arrested Friday and formally charged Monday with attempted first-degree murder and felony child abuse.

I’m being sarcastic, but it boggles my mind that these two meatsacks would even suggest such a thing. STERILIZE THEM BOTH. Once at the children’s hospital, doctors were able to confirm that the victim had “multiple broken bones and internal injuries,” police said. Additionally, doctors said the boy had shattered both the tibia and fibula in his right leg and also suffered a fractured vertebrae in his back, bleeding in the brain, pancreatitis, liver lacerations, an acute kidney injury, a broken clavicle, and two popped eardrums.

Joshua Moody on Aug. 24 called police and claimed that Wingert had “admitted to everything,” Cowboy State reported. In a subsequent interview, he reportedly told investigators that he witnessed Wingert repeatedly punch her son in the head and face.

Additionally, he reportedly said that on Aug. 23 Wingert was beating her son when she grabbed him by both legs and swung the toddler “like a baseball bat from right to left towards the window” of the motel. As she finished the swing, Wingert reportedly only let go of one of the boy’s legs, allowing him to swing around her body before stopping abruptly as he collided with her shoulder. Moody reportedly said he heard the toddler’s leg getting “snapped.”

As the toddler screamed in pain, Wingert allegedly put him on the bed and held her hand over his mouth to muffle the sound of his cries.

Moody allegedly told police he was afraid of Wingert, claiming she threatened to kill him if she told anybody what she’d done to the child.
