Sentenced: Glen Byrd Physically Abused His Children, Forced Them To Kill Pet Pig

A male was accused of physically abusing his children and forcing them to kill the family pet, a teacup pig, with a hammer.

Police started investigating 35-year-old Glen Byrd after they received a tip about one of his daughters who had reportedly been hit with a dryer cable on Nov. 23, 2024, per a probable cause affidavit.

The girl would later tell authorities that Byrd hit her because she spilled chips on a counter in the kitchen, and that he had also poured juice on her and her siblings and broke a glass table with a hammer.

In an interview with Byrd's 17-year-old stepson, police learned that the patriarch wanted to get rid of the family's pet teacup pig in October, and forced the children to "strike the family's pet pig, with a hammer, until it stopped moving," per the affidavit. The stepson was then allegedly made to dispose of the pig's body in a nearby pond.

Officers who reviewed images of the children's injuries said they were "egregious and not consistent with reasonable physical discipline," per the affidavit.

What an absolutely vile pos! It always gets me that these narcissistic, controlling asses can't take an accidental small mess like chips on the counter but they purposely destroy things that will cause horrendous messes, like break glass tables and spill juice all over the kids...which we all know would get everywhere else, too. Then make their victims clean it!
Because it is completely understandable why victims don't speak out, especially children, when these children do get the courage to, it always fills me with such admiration. It is so difficult and taking that step is so brave.

Agreed. I cannot imagine what these poor kids felt having to kill their little friend. Pets are like family! And by a parent. Someone you cannot escape from. They aren't to blame but guilt would stay with them.
When my grandma was a very child she and her siblings were given a little puppy by their neighbor who had a farm. She was head over heels in love with this puppy, it was like her best friend. And one day, the neighbors kid beat that puppy to death with a shovel in front of her. It wasn't quick either, he tortured that puppy then stomped on it's corpse.
This was one of her first clear memories, she was so young. It seriously traumatised her and she didn't even have to kill the poor thing, but she felt she should have tried to stop him.
You have to be evil to want harm to be brought to an animal just to torture your own kids.

The physiological terror he has put his children through will take longer to heal then the physical abuse.
