29-year-old Debra Scott was taken into custody after a toddler who was "acting crazy" was determined to be "tweaking" on meth.
Lab results confirmed that Scott's child was exposed to the following narcotics, per WCJB:
- Meth
- Opiates (a class of drugs including codeine, heroin and morphine)
The outlet reported that Scott had recently moved into a home in Bronson that was known for drug activity, with detectives saying she admitted to recently using meth.
Investigators told WCJB that Scott also admitted to waiting around 12 hours after she first noticed her child having symptoms to visit a hospital. When she decided to take action, however, she chose not to call 911, and instead drove to Marion County, which was miles away from where she lived, per the outlet.
