Sentenced: Florida DCF Worker, Husband Accused Of Sexually Abusing A Child

An administrative assistant with the Florida Department of Children and Families has been arrested and accused of sexually abusing a child.

According to a Pasco County criminal complaint, Sarah Frances Adams, 34, sexually abused the girl and enticed her husband, 33-year-old Thomas Earl Adams, to sexually abuse the child, as well.

Sarah Adams faces charges of sexual battery and lewd and lascivious battery. Thomas Adams faces a sexually battery charge.

"A high bond is requested due to the severity of the charges and [her] contact with other juveniles due to her employment with [the] Department of Children and Families," investigators wrote in the affidavit.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, Thomas Adams began showing the girl pornography in February 2019 and forced her to perform sexual acts on him over her objections. “To show appreciation,” he would give the girl a marijuana vape pen to smoke.

Investigators say Sarah Adams knew about the assaults and in November 2019 began participating in them.

Reports do not indicate when the assaults were reported, but investigators arranged for the girl to talk to Thomas Adams in a recorded phone call where they say he admitted to the assaults and apologized. The couple was arrested Tuesday.

ok i am confused... was reading date of offenses and it has a span of 7 years from 03/10/2012 to 1/24/2019. was this with the same child? and how couldn't a mother not know if it had been going on since this little girl was 6 years old till she finally decided to join her husband in the abusing her own child ... what happened to the egg donor??

Seems like she should be facing the same charges as he is, or at the very least, a lot more than she is.

In Florida, as far as I can tell, if you commit a burglary or other felony crime, and one of your accomplices kills someone, you are also guilty of felony murder even if you had no intention of killing anyone, and did not carry out the killing yourself.

It seems to me, that if you assist someone in raping your own(or any) child, you should be just as guilty of that rape. It seems to me that not just allowing, but encouraging this abuse to happen continuously is a lot worse than being involved in a one time incident where someone was murdered possibly against your own intentions.
