Lindsey Whiteside was indicted late last year on felony sexual battery of a minor.

Following the guilty plea, a judge sentenced Whiteside to three years of house arrest and seven years of probation. She must also register as a sex offender.

District Attorney Matthew Barton says prosecutors sought a 30-year prison sentence. He lambasted the judge for the sentence, claiming there was a double standard to the sentencing because Whiteside is a woman.
Barton said there were 64,000 pages of evidence between text messages and stationaries from the church showing her relationship with a girl nine years younger than her.

Barton called the decision “an abomination” saying Whiteside, “used the gospel as a weapon.”

He also called out people who wrote letters of support for Whiteside like Desoto County School Board Member Michele Henley. Barton said he is calling for her resignation saying no one who support Whiteside’s actions should be in education.

I think she should be held to a Higher Standard!! The sentence she was given is very weak! Very disappointing!! People actually wrote letters in support!! No !! I’m with the District Attorney! This trash should not be free, house arrest! Oh please! That’s disrespectful to her victim! I just have to wonder if there are any more victims!

The general age of consent in Mississippi is 16 - maybe that played a part in the sentence.

well house arrest is ok cuz tax payers don't have to pay for her upkeep but also bad cuz those ankle bracelets can be remove and useless unless very well monitored ..... with all the technology they have now a better ankle bracelet should be invented so tax payers don't have to pay for crimals upkeep....

"Wait, she's a woman pastor?"

No, what I'm trying to say is, "that woman passed her around".
