Dallas police say they have arrested a father in connection with the stabbing death of his 3-year-old son.

Police say they were dispatched on a cutting call when officers arrived 35-year-old Brandon Edwards was arrested after he jumped out of his family's second story apartment. Inside the apartment, officers found Edwards' 3-year-old son, Bryson, stabbed -- he was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police say the boy's mother was also stabbed by her husband, she fled the apartment with their 7-year-old daughter and called police from a neighbor's house. She is in the hospital in stable condition, the girl was not injured.

Brandon Demone Edwards, 35, was charged with capital murder and aggravated assault of a family member with a deadly weapon.

His wife, who was also stabbed and is in stable condition, fled their Red Bird apartment with their uninjured 7-year-old daughter to call police from another home about 6:30 p.m., police spokesman Warren Mitchell said.

When police arrived at the Greens of Hickory Trail apartments near West Wheatland Road, they found Bryson Edwards had been gravely wounded with a knife, Mitchell said. The boy was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Neighbors who said they heard commotion at the apartments Saturday evening said Edwards, who was wearing only a pair of red plaid boxer shorts, pried a screen from a second-story window and began to climb out.

Edwards yelled that he was going to die, then dropped from the window into the bushes below, neighbor Zequia Hashaway said. He tried to run, but was quickly chased down by police, Hashaway said.

Police have not released any details about what led to the attack.

On Sunday afternoon, teddy bears and flowers had been placed outside family's apartment. A damaged screen covering was hanging over the second-floor window.

Edwards remained jailed Sunday with bail set at $1.75 million. He has previously been convicted of interfering with an emergency request for assistance and possession of marijuana.

Stabbing? I can understand how a toddler is shaken or beat to death (little fucker won't shut the fuck up and evil idiot lashes out), I can understand how a toddler is shot to death (the insane father shots everyone to "fix" his problem), but stabbing really seems a bit out of place for a father to kill his toddler. That's anger, planning and having no problem getting a knife, crossing the room, and purposely commit the physical act of plunging a piece of metal into a tiny human.

What an evil sick fuck.

A Dallas father was sentenced to life in prison after jurors in his second trial found him guilty of capital murder for killing his 3-year-old son.

Prosecutors said Brandon Edwards killed the child, Bryson Edwards, after attacking the boy’s mother in their home in January 2019. But prosecutors couldn’t explain how Edwards killed his son.

A Dallas County deputy chief medical examiner testified that asphyxiation was Bryson’s cause of death and that his fatal injuries were consistent with strangulation and smothering. But she couldn’t tell jurors for sure what was used to kill Bryson.

Jurors were deadlocked 11-1 in favor of convicting Brandon Edwards during his first trial in July. State District Judge Tina Clinton declared a mistrial after jurors said the one holdout refused to look at all the evidence.
Jurors in Edwards’ second trial took less than two hours to convict him. He faced an automatic life sentence because prosecutors were not seeking the death penalty.

Edwards’ lawyers filed a motion requesting a new trial. He may also appeal his conviction.

Edwards' daughter testified that she and her brother had witnessed Edwards attacking their mother and that both tried to intervene by throwing a game controller at Edwards.
According to reports, he chased the children, grabbing Bryson and dragging the boy into another room where the child was smothered.

Edwards was arrested trying to get out a window.
Every one of the original articles for a long time state the boy was stabbed. Then then an about turn and a medical examiner says it was asphyxiation but had no idea how he did it. Apparently he had been babbling and talking to himself. A neighbor said he would talk about wanting to kill and he was going to kill him while talking to himself and had been acting oddly.

Yes Bryson had a shitty home life but I doubt he was a suicidal three-year-old.
