The Department received a report of a fatality event where the nine year old deceased child suffered a fatal gunshot wound and died at the hospital. The incident reportedly occurred after the deceased child's father set his pistol on a counter while he was putting on his holster. It was explained that one of the children threw something that caused the pistol to fall and discharge, hitting the deceased child in the hip. Investigators do not feel this explanation is consistent. Law enforcement believes the deceased child's father did not intend to shoot the deceased child, but there is concern of negligence. Law enforcement is obtaining a warrant for father's arrest. A second report was received with concerns the deceased child's father dropped the gun and the gun discharged shooting the deceased child. There were concerns with prior family violence where the deceased child's father was the aggressor.

The Department's investigation determined the deceased child's father was within 6 feet of the deceased child and the deceased child's two siblings when the gun discharged and the deceased child was shot. The deceased child's father admitted to spinning a gun on his finger, the gun discharged, which resulted in a fatal gunshot wound to the deceased child. The deceased child's two siblings were present when the incident occurred. The deceased child's father had knowledge of gun safety and failed to act in a safe manner with the gun while in the presence of the children. Prior to the incident resulting the deceased child's death, there was a previous incident where the deceased child gained access to a gun and discharged the gun in the home while the siblings were in the home. The deceased child's father was the caretaker of the children during the previous incident. The deceased child's father was arrested for Manslaughter.

" is it only me that when reading this sentence i read it as he 9 y.o was deceased then suffered a fatal gunshot woould and died (again??) in the hospital... i know english isn't my first language but ???? to me this sentence would make more sense if it read "received a report of fatality event where a 9 y.o. suffered a fatal gunshot etc " i know i am picky but when learning a new language i was taught to use it correctly though my spelling is still very poor

Quite a few news agencies have difficulty reporting what happened first, what happened next, and what happened after that. I never noticed it in this write-up until you commented on it.

I have zero idea from whence it comes. I do know that I tend to see what I expect to see and have, as a consequence, written some absolute tripe. Thank $DIETY for editors and C compilers that issue warnings and errors when the syntax is not correct.
