A father is accused of intentionally setting fire to his family’s New Jersey home, killing his infant daughter and her grandparents, authorities said Monday.

Michael Sanders, 23, was arrested Monday and charged with three counts of murder resulting from the 3:40 a.m. Friday blaze at a duplex in Hamilton Township.

The suspect was caught on surveillance camera buying flammable liquid before the fire, prosecutors said. He was also allegedly spotted walking near the home minutes before the flames erupted.

Sanders, earlier Friday, also told his daughter’s mother via text to get their baby out of the house, according to prosecutors.

Sanders’ 9-month old girl, Malani Sanders, and her grandmother, Tiffany Abrams-Jones, 42, died at the home.

Abrams-Jones’s husband, Prince Jones, 50, died Sunday from his injuries and the infant’s mother and one other person inside the home were critically injured.

Jurors this week convicted a 27-year-old Trenton man in the deaths of four people, including his infant daughter, who died in a fire that destroyed a Hamilton Township home in 2021.

Michael Sanders was found guilty Tuesday of four counts of first-degree murder and felony murder in the deaths of 9-month-old Malani Sanders, her grandparents, 42-year-old Tiffany Abrams-Jones and 50-year-old Prince, and their child, 18-year-old Zaire McRae, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Sanders faces four life sentences when he appears again before a judge on April 25, the office said in a statement Thursday. He won’t be eligible for parole because of his daughter’s age at the time she died, prosecutors said.
