Police said 29-year-old Kaitlin Elizabeth Baptiste was aware that her husband, 31-year-old Kevin Grant, who is the child’s stepfather, was forcing him to sleep in a locked closet for several months and subjecting him to physical punishments.

In addition to kneeling on tacks, the punishments included drinking hot sauce until the child vomited, police said.

Grant was arrested Friday and charged with risk of injury to a child, assault, intentional cruelty to persons, disorderly conduct, and reckless endangerment. He was held on a $25,000 bond.

Baptiste was also arrested and charged with risk of injury to a child, conspiracy to commit/intentional cruelty to persons, conspiracy to commit/disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment. She was held on a $10,000 bond.

What’s with the hot sauce as punishment?
my daughter (now 13) vividly remembers a teacher/worker at her daycare leaving the job and going to buy hot sauce and returning to put it on her thumb and make her put her thumb in her mouth because she was a thumbsucker. She cried and the rest of the class laughed. She didn’t tell me until three years later when she was about seven years old. But it made such an impact on her that she wrote a full page about it in her fifth grade autobiography which was 6 years after the fact. Shortly after she started kindergarten the entire daycare shut down after 28 years and the worker moved to another state or I would’ve pitched a complete fit. But honestly....It still affects her.

Granted different situation entirely just chiming in

Maybe just prepping the kid for .....
When investigators noticed a scar on the boy’s check, he allegedly told them Grant made him put a firework in his mouth and light it. He says he was made to hold the bottle rocket in his own mouth until it exploded.

A Naugatuck man accused of child abuse is facing additional charges.

Police said Kevin Grant, 33, of Naugatuck, is facing more charges in a child abuse investigation that started in 2020.

Grant is awaiting trial for a 2020 arrest in the case, according to authorities.
Grant is accused of beating the victims with a bat to the point that the victim could not walk, said police.

He attached thumb tacks to a bat and forced his children to hit each other with it, police said.

Police said one of the children was put in the closet as a punishment. When he had to use the bathroom, he was given a box.

“The juvenile victim was then forced by Kevin to defecate in the box while locked in the closet and was then made to eat his feces out of the box while his siblings were forced to watch,” said Naugatuck police.

Grant is also accused of putting firecrackers in one of the children’s pants and setting it off.

Authorities said the victims in the case range from the ages of 5 to 11 years old.

Police said Grant was taken into custody on August 10.

How did he still have access to these children.

Grant was arrested on a $50,000 bond, police said. So is he going to bond out and continue to abuse these kids WTF.
