According to a news release from the Cherokee County District Attorney, an elementary school teacher contacted police in April 2023 to report "child abuse concerns involving a student in her class."

"The student had disclosed to the teacher that [his mother] had kicked and punched the child’s legs, and 'choked' the child with her hands," the release read.
The Division of Family & Children Services began investigating the child and his mother, identified as 35-year-old Candice Nicole McClure. Child services made an unannounced visit to McClure's home during the investigation and "photographed bruising on the child's leg and a patterned injury on the child's forehead," per the release.

The child was immediately taken to the hospital for a full examination, where authorities allegedly discovered "significant" bruising on his legs and a "patterned injury" on the forehead that matched the design of a belt.
During McClure's trial, prosecutors presented evidence and photographs that showed injuries McClure inflicted on the same child in 2016, when the child was just four years old.
McClure was found guilty of aggravated assault and two counts of first-degree cruelty of children. She was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

well at least that judge didn't give her a tap on her hand as a consequence of her actions... way to go judge and i hope that biitch will do the full 40years and rot while she is awaiting her freedom... i hope that this child will grow up in a house full of love and not place with her relatives and doesn't have to hear that she is a loving person that only wanted the best for him that is why she was so harsh with him etc and the length of her sentence also means that that child won't be afraid of her coming back and always looking over his shoulder so to speak...
