A mother and daughter in California were arrested after police say the pair performed a series of illegal butt lift procedures that left at least one woman dead.

Libby Adame, 51, and her daughter, Alicia Gomez, were taken into custody last month in connection with the death of 26-year-old Karissa Rajpaul, an aspiring adult film actress who had recently moved to California from South Africa.

Prior to her death, Rajpaul posted a video to social media showing her lying on a table and undergoing the second of three butt augmentation operations allegedly performed by Adame, which took place inside of a private home in Encino, NBC Los Angeles reported. Per the report, the second operation took place in September 2020. Rajpaul died immediately after the third operation.

LAPD Valley Bureau Homicide Detective Bob Dinlocker told NBC Los Angeles that the duo, when performing the illegal surgery, allegedly injected Rajpaul with a deadly liquid silicon mixture that caused her death.

“The internet is filled with stories where they cut the medical-grade silicon with the stuff you would caulk your windows with,” Dinlocker said. “It hits the blood stream, attacks the heart, the brain and the kidneys.”

Dinlocker also noted that there may be more victims. An LAPD spokesperson reportedly said that there may be a “string of illegal butt lifts” stretching across all of Los Angeles County.

According to Dinlocker, the pair would travel to private homes, bringing medical supplies and other equipment to perform the surgeries without any emergency procedures or processes in place to mitigate risk or address complications. When such complications did arise, the duo would allegedly flee, abandoning the victim and leaving the problem to be dealt with by paramedics.

Advertising under the name “La Tia,” Adame and Gomez would allegedly charge between $3,500 and $4,500 per unlawful butt lift—a surgery that typically runs up to $15,000.

“These individuals have no medical training,” LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton told ABC7, adding, “They’re not experienced and they’re putting people’s lives at risk.”

Hamilton also said the department was having difficulties identifying victims, many of whom he believes are too embarrassed to file a report with law enforcement authorities.

“We need these victims to come forward because we need to find out if there are other victims out there that are permanently disfigured or may have passed away as a result of some of these procedures and may have been a victim of a criminal act,” he said.

Could've used a mug warning.. yikes.

Rajpaul was very pretty. Just wish she'd known how to turn her natural ass-ets into profit rather than turning to a deflated Cher balloon for help.

Alicia's photo here is very pretty too, she looks cute, minus the lips. It must have been a weird and difficult upbringing by a woman clearly obsessed with plastic surgery and the eternal race towards changing standards of beauty. I wonder how her self-image has been affected.

It's all the damn Botox and fillers.. I get Botox for migraines the plus side less headaches less wrinkle lines from squinting so much.. I already had self image issues before wrinkles but I tell myself I have earned each one like the random grey hairs that appear .. and mean blood sweat and tears to earn them .. I should be proud .. I am growing old gracefully .. I just don't have the uummppphhh for that stuff .. my energy goes to my youngest daughter and my grands ..

I have no shame, I'd knock on that backdoor all night, she didn't need a lift. Maybe I could be an aspiring porn star too? Probably not, I also wanted to be a gynecologist but I couldn't find any openings.

Horrific images of an exploded butt-lift operation gone wrong were shown to a Los Angeles court on Tuesday as a mother and daughter's murder trial got underway.
Libby Adame, 53, and her daughter Alicia Galaz are facing murder charges for allegedly causing the death of their client, Karissa Rajpaul, 26, in October 2019.

Prosecutors argued in opening statements on Tuesday that the mother and daughter knowingly injected 'toxic' chemicals into clients during amateurish operations in the Lynwood, California area.
They claimed this ultimately led aspiring porn star Rajpaul to suffer a heart attack during her third surgery with the duo in a hotel room.
The illegal surgery ring allegedly lured in a number of women into painful procedures, as prosecutors also cited a woman who allegedly died following another of their butt lift operations in 2018, which they were not charged over.

Grim images exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com show the autopsy photos of two women who died after having the procedure - including Rajpaul. A woman who died earlier was shown with a huge angry rupture on one of her buttocks.

What makes a rupture angry vs a regular rupture? Seems like there could be any amount of force with a rupture.

So... they don't wear surgical masks while pumping some questionable chemicals into someone's ass... but they will wear shitty masks in the court room.

A mother-daughter team convicted of involuntary manslaughter for illegally administering a silicone injection into a woman's buttocks that led to her death were each sentenced to prison, but a judge subsequently ordered their release after determining they had already completed their sentences with credit for time they spent under electronic monitoring.
Libby Adame, 53, and her daughter, 25-year-old Alicia Galaz, were found guilty last month of involuntary manslaughter and practicing medicine without a certificate in the death of Karissa Rajpaul.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge George G. Lomeli sentenced Adame to four years and four months in state prison, and Galaz to three years and eight months in state prison and ordered them to be taken into custody over the objection of Galaz's attorney, Nareg Gourjian.
Within hours of the women being handcuffed, the judge said he agreed with the defense attorney's argument that the two were entitled to additional credit for the time they underwent electronic monitoring while out of custody following their August 2021 arrests at the Riverside home they shared.

"If you add all this up, it's time served,'' Lomeli told attorneys late Thursday morning. "I'm going to order them released from this facility.''
