A 9-year-old girl is dead after being fatally shot inside a home in North Philadelphia Wednesday morning. Now, investigators are trying to figure out who pulled the trigger.

Police were called to the home along Bouvier street, "they were met by a child inside the home that said that one of the other children inside that location was shot," said Cpl. Jasmine Reilly.

Reilly said the girl was shot in the head, and the kids were home alone at the time.

The 9-year-old was taken first to Temple University Hospital, and then to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children where she died.

Reilly said there were several weapons inside the home and officers are investigating which, if any, were legally owned.

No one has been arrested.

The victim was left unattended at the time of the incident, with two other children aged 5 and 12. The 12-year-old alerted law enforcement after the shooting, police said.

Officials did not provide anymore information around the shooting, including how or if the children were related. Newsweek has contacted Philadelphia Police for comment.

However, Patrick Flood, a family friend who lives nearby, told the Philadelphia Inquirer that the 9-year-old girl was the cousin of the 5-year-old shooter. He said the 12-year-old was the victim's brother.

A 39-year-old man was charged Thursday with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the death of his 9-year-old daughter, who was fatally shot by another child in a north Philadelphia home, authorities said.

The girl’s brother and cousin, both minors, were inside the home with no adult supervision at the time of the shooting Wednesday, District Attorney Larry Krasner said in a statement.

Blake Davis was charged with involuntary manslaughter and multiple other charges.

Police said Wednesday the 12-year-old boy is facing juvenile counts of involuntary manslaughter and reckless endangering another person in the 9—year-old girl’s Jan. 20 death.

Police called to the address reported finding the girl with a gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead several hours later at Temple University Hospital.

District Attorney Larry Krasner said the victim and other children were inside the home with no adult supervision at the time. Her 39-year-old father was earlier charged with involuntary manslaughter, child endangerment and other counts. Police said two firearms were found in the home.
