Five children have been removed from their home after it was discovered that their mother and grandparents had allegedly kept them locked in cages for an undetermined amount of time.

Alabama authorities were first alerted to a possible child abuse situation on Jan. 13 in Smiths Station
According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, investigators conducted a welfare check at the home and made contact with four children aged 3, 4, 10, and 11 years old. Investigators also discovered two cages made of wood with hasps and locks on them.

“[The] investigation revealed evidence that the children had been locked in the cages on multiple occasions,” said the Lee County Sheriff’s Office in a statement on social media.

A fifth child who is 8 months old was also discovered to live at the home but was not present at the time of the police investigation.
As a result of the investigation, all five of the children were removed from the home and the mother along with two of the children’s grandparents were arrested.

Kylla Michelle Mann, 30, is being held on a $122,000 bond. Pamela Deloris Bond, 66, is being held on a $123,000 bond. James H. Bond, 69, is being held on a $122,000 bond.

God save the five children from the lot of them.

The egg is pregnant and on suicide watch.

The father of the two of the children (3 & 4yo) says he can provide them a home where they are not locked in cages but I doubt much else.

The mother's mother did not raise her but wants custody of the 3 and 4 year old - If there is a God please don't let that happen.

A Smiths Station mother, accused of locking her children in cages, is back in jail after a Lee County Judge revokes her bail for violating conditions of her release.

30-year-old Kylla Michelle Mann of Smith Station was arrested back in January and charged with two counts of Aggravated Child abuse of a child less than six years of age and two counts of Reckless Endangerment. Mann’s grandparents were also arrested in the case.

Lee County District Attorney Brandon Hughes tells News 3 Mann is back in custody at the Lee County Detention Facility. Hughes says Mann’s bond was pulled Wednesday morning, September 23, when a Lee County Judge approved prosecutors’ motion for revocation.

Hughes says Mann failed to comply with court-ordered drug screenings. Hughes says there is evidence Mann moved to Mississippi, also a violation of her bond, where she now faces an outstanding Felony Warrant in Mississippi for allegedly stealing lottery tickets from a gas station she was working at.

Mann’s bond revocation means she remains behind bars at the Lee County Detention Facility until the case goes to trial or is resolved.
