Terrance Devonte Cobb, a 22-year-old with 15 prior adult felony convictions, has been sentenced to 198 years in prison for the kidnapping and rape of a 68-year-old woman.

It was New Year’s Eve 2018 when the victim attended a funeral in south Alabama. She picked up her daughter in Montgomery and drove to Opp, dropping her daughter back off when the funeral was over.

After driving for about two miles, a vehicle driving erratically came up beside her and sideswiped her van before crashing out.

The victim called her husband and told him she had been involved in a wreck.

“She said, ‘I’m going to make sure they’re OK,’’' Robinson said. “She got out of the car and he (a man later identified as Cobb) comes running toward her car.”

The woman tried to get back into her vehicle and he tried to force his way in as well. She was yelling for him to stop.

“He gets mad, goes back to his car, comes back to a car with a gun in his hand and shoots the window out,’' Robinson said. “She’s covered in glass, with cuts and stuff.”

Cobb then got into the woman’s van, put a gun to her head, and forced him to drive him around for the next couple of hours. They ended up in a remote, wooded area in Macon County, where authorities say he forced her to perform oral sex on him and then raped her.

Cobb, authorities would later find out, is HIV positive. The victim would later go through three months of preventative treatment and never tested positive for the virus that can lead to AIDS.

The victim was on the phone with her husband when the initial attack happened. The husband heard the gunshot but then the line went dead. Her family was panicked, not knowing what happened.

The husband called Alexander City police, who then called authorities in Macon County and eventually Tallassee police where investigators “pinged” her phone and were able to quickly identify the last two numbers that had been dialed from her device. They ran the number through their database and learned that the number was a match to one of the department’s confidential informants.

A narcotics detective called the informant, who told the officer he had been expecting their call. The informant told police that his cousin – Cobb- had called him and reported that he had “wrecked and taken a white woman hostage.”
Cobb said publicly in the courtroom, “I should have just killed that white bitch.” Again, he was kicked out of the courtroom and future hearings were held via Zoom.

Additionally, Robinson said, Cobb sexually assaulted two male inmates while in the Elmore County Jail awaiting trial. “He’s threatened to kill me, he’s threatened to kill Judge (Bill) Lewis,’' Robinson said. He also confessed to the attack on the woman to a fellow inmate at the county lockup.

I would read article at link

There is so much to this story. He is a serious threat to society, and he doesnt play gender favorites. He's willing to rape and maim everyone who crosses his path. After reading it all..honestly a bit surprised he doesnt have a trail of bodies.

All prosecutors and judges should strive to be like the ones in this case. Kudos to them for a job well done and a huge hats off to the victim for standing her ground and moving forward with the case <3

15 felony convictions yet not in a cage already?

Good job govt, the govt is equally culpable in these crimes.

perfect reason to immediately be sentenced to death .. he admitted the crimes.. death is the only amends acceptable..
I dont agree with this sentiment. Justice, at most, should be an eye for an eye. Life for a life..in this case there was no life taken(in the physical sense). Punishment exceeding the crime is a dangerous slope, one that America has already slid half way down.

I would however be okay with them chaining him to the middle of the prison yard and hosting an open house on his anus with granny getting first dibs. He shouldn't be put to death. Thats an easy way out with no real lessons learn. Death penalty isnt the deterrent it once was because people no longer fear it. Give him something to fear..something that permanently scars him. Something that gives him sweat drenched, screaming like a bitch nightmares. Let him feel exactly what his victim(s) felt.

@Sudonim & @Fives My Charm - How about we combine your two punishments? Do the whole chaining to a post/sexual toy thing and then end it with a mercy killing after a couple years of straight rape/torture? I mean he did say he should have "just killed the white bitch", so he had intent... Seems like a working solution to me. He can't hurt others while chained to a post, and then we'd be doing a mitzvah with a mercy killing after a few years. This way we all win! :shame:

Your view on the matter is fucking stupid and objectively wrong. DP for rape is a perfectly reasonable and morally righteous penalty.

DP isn't about deterrence, it's about punishment and ensuring the offender can never offend again.

If this happened in California, he'd probably get probation and Dodgers tickets.

Newsom would give him the fucking keys to his house and a place to stay, prob enact a law saying this man is allowed to rape whoever he wants.

I would kick his ass

He had a gun

absolutely horrific and a good argument for the death penalty. I think we need to find out WHY monsters like this exist. I don’t know if anyone is familiar with the documentary “child of rage” but it’s quite eye opening.

We are so filled with anger and hurt when we read about these things and rightly so. Unfortunately, while I do think the death penalty is wrong in most cases, society has no choice at this point in time but to get rid of these people that are so far gone. In the future, hopefully these tendencies can be identified and remedied before anyone is hurt.....maybe a lobotomy? Seems to make people pretty compliant

then after a few years after each prisoner has had his way with him, shoot him in the head, call it a mercy killing. Mercy for all his victims not him.

Totally in favor of this but I think his victim should get to choose. Death, life in prison, and/or this eye for an eye scenario.

Does anyone else wonder what would cause a person to be so cold blooded and evil at such a young age? Or are some just born that way? Either way the indifference to human suffering is bone chilling...

There are some recognized causes but what do you do once it's done? Right now, we're using therapy that involves talking it through with a therapist or in a group combined with medication. Medication, of course, is not a cure but simply controls the symptoms. As we have seen, getting folks to stay on the medication after they start to feel more stable ruins it. So, personally, I have no answers beyond locking them up for the safety of themselves and others. Will we ever get it right?

I would normally agree but animals like this are too dangerous, and he is incapable of feeling remorse, it'd just make him more dangerous. He needs to be dealt with for good.
